The kids will work it out quicker tha we will! 5 - holidays 6 - witnesses to a bank robbery - look at the action - listen to the witness - who is correct? 7 - voyante - she talks about your past/future - drag the correct picture into her crystal ball 8 - be a star - role play about a party - bit more demanding than the others Enjoy! March Taskmagic - If you don't know this facility it really is worth every penny. You can create your own activities but why re-invent the wheel when such a huge resource bank is already available. For info go to www.mdlsoft.co.uk www.taskmagic.co.uk/TMActivities.htm accesses a topic based list. Several schools however have their own list of activities www.williamparker.e-sussex.sch.uk/mflex/TMActivities.htm www.languagesonline.co.uk www.ashcombe.surrey.sch.uk/Curriculum/modlang/index_students.htm This last one is coming soon but what they already have are 80 videos in 5 different languages on all sorts of topics. There are individual self-marking quizzes, hints and check facilities. As usual links below Update February 2006 Great site for testing topical vocabulary - also allows the pupils to listen to the pronunciation - based on a text-book but topics are topics. In any case it allows you to remove any unsuitable cards. You can test yourself with French side on top or English on top www.classzone.com/books/french_1/index.cfm Links below french_2 or french_3 will take you to higher level vocab There are interactive exercises which may or may not be accessible to your pupils but each topic has "Vocabulary Flashcards" Feb 10 site seems to be temperamental!! Persevere - it's worth it! Update:October 22 2005 Great new discovery - free till April - site that allows you to produce double-sided small flashcards for single or group vocab practice. I've played about with it and it seems to cope fine with long sentences too. Good for use with the traffic light system - 3 boxes - red for those you don't know, yellow for those you're not sure of and green for those you know. There is also a facility to make the work you do available to anyone else - saves others re-inventing the wheel. Quia is a fantastic site and creates flashcards which you can whittle down to those you don't know but it doesn't allow you to save your personal reduced pack for learning later or to print it off. I have suggested to them it would be a very worthwhile addition to what is a hige and fantastic site and a bargain at 49 dollars a year. www.wordlearner.com An Australian site which is now charging but not a lot is languageplus which is making mp3 files available for pupils to learn verbs on the go. I personally haven't quite managed to get them onto an mp3 player but I am more a user of technology than an understander of technology!! Humble apologies - logo book 1 link was wrong - I wondered why nobody was using the games www.quia.com/pages/logo1pacd.html I mention the metro link below but realise there is no link! From this site you can access games on metro 1, metro 2 and the first 4 chapters of metro ecosse. I'm not sure if I will do the remaining chapters as I find the interactive games created with taskmagic (from mdlsoft) more varied, attractive and colourful. www.quia.com/pages/metro.html Taskmagic is FANTASTIC and there are masses of ready made activiies free from the site. It costs under £100 for the first, £10 for subsequent machines. Bargain! Kids can download the software free at home and access all the materials free to download at www.mdlsoft.co.uk Logo Book 1 interactive games (like my Metro ones) can now be accessed via link below. www.quia.com/pages/logo1pacad.html www.williamparker.e-sussex.sch.uk and go into languages a wide variety of interactive exercises, many suitable for interactive white boards. Link below www.atantot.com/listofspfrancais.htm www.atantot.com/listofspdeutsch.htm CHECK IT OUT!!! Links at bottom of this page Changes at quia My latest project Culture specific pictures New games software Things have changed at quia - it's not possible for "outsiders" to access more than the most popular games unless they know the exact game address. The links below should all still function. Most sites develop through time and unfortunately the best ones become pay sites. They are usually worth every penny though. Some new fantastic sites: www.resourcesmfl.org.uk teachers put their work here www.tre.ngfl.gov.uk Teacher Resource Exchange Between the various sites there are hundreds if not thousands of resources available. For newcomers it is like looking for a needle in a haystack so what I have been doing recently is trying to organise them according to topics in the Metro Books. You would click on the book - chapter - worksheet or powerpoint. I now need to investigate how I can make this availble to you all. It needs a fair bit of memory. To get culture specific pictures go into http://images.google.com and type in the word in the foreign lang eg fromage To make up interactive games eg for whiteboards too go to www.spellmaster.com (free) www.quia.com/pages/evaforbes.html My e-mail address is eva_forbes@hotmail.com if you would like some further support The nature of the internet is such that things can change from one day to the next but I do my best to make sure all links are working.
