My Faith

"My Faith" is a new class for TES 8th grade students.  It meets all year long, every third day, for 45 minutes.  Father Jacob Golden is the instructor.

In some ways "My Faith" will be paired with the 8th grade "World Religions" faith studies class. For example, our study of "world views" will inform our understanding of the religious traditions we encounter there.  In other ways, "My Faith" will be an independent exploration of "all things faith-related," from prayer and devotion, to worship, to "orthodox" Christian beliefs, to the intersection of faith and action, to the exploration of where we've come from and where we're headed, i.e. our "identity" and "purpose."

The course will include two major papers.  The first of these will ask students to investigate and write about their own religious and faith "roots."  See the links below for the particulars of this assignment.

The second paper, called "Credo," will be a formal statement of the student's own faith and beliefs at this point in their lives.  In stating those beliefs, students will be asked to respond to the things they've learned in this class and also in their world religions classes.

From time to time there will also be other assignments designed to lead students into a deeper consideration of their spiritual walk.

This page will be a place where students can find copies of assignments and other materials that will be helpful in class activities.

If at any time you as a student or parent have a question about anything related to this course, please don't hesitate to contact me!
