Rundle Academy - Education Technology

Education Technology

Rundle Academy students have unique strengths, needs, talents, and interests. Learning Disabilities (LD) often affect the ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations. Rundle Academy students live, learn, and function in many settings - home, school, work, social, and recreational. Students need to explore a variety of technology tools as accomodations to find out what works best for them.

Technology doesn't necessarily fix or eliminate particular learning difficulties, but it can be used to make the most of strengths and bypass areas of difficulty. Additionally, students with LD often experience greater success when they are allowed to use their abilities (strengths) to work around their disabilities (challenges). AT tools combine the best of both of these practices. The right tool depends on the individual need, the setting in which it will be used, and the task(s) to be accomplished. Technology can open doors and break down barriers for students with disabilities.

Assistive technology (AT) tools may greatly improve the chances of success in school, work and life increasing self-reliance and independence. Students will become better independent learners and produce work closer to their maximum level of performance.

Rundle Academy's Committment

Rundle Academy is committed to providing the appropriate technology tools for students to be successful idependent learners and to lead the exploration of technology as a tool for learning.
