Welcome to Ms. Petlak's homepage! Dear Parents, Junior parents, please speak with your student regarding how they would like to prepare for the ACT. There are various test prep courses students can take to prepare themselves for the test. Please speak with Mrs. Kirkpatrick regarding how to sign up for those courses. Additionally, students can practice for the test for FREE at www.ACT.org. MULTIPLE STUDENTS ARE NOT READING THE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS. THEREFORE, THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DISCUSS THE TEXT IN CLASS AND DO NOT PERFORM WELL ON READING QUIZZES. PARENTS, PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT TO COMPLETE THE READING SELECTIONS THAT ARE ASSIGNED FOR HOMEWORK. To all parents, I will try my best to update grades weekly. It does take an extended amount of time to grade essays. However, I will quickly update homework, quiz, and tests grades. Thank you for your patience. Thank you. - Ms. Petlak Saint Viator High School English Department Late Work Policy The English department’s late work policy is as follows: • If you are in the building on the day an assignment is due, you must turn it in to your teacher by the start of class, regardless of whether you attend class or not. • Late work will be scored according to the following scale: o Up to 1 day late: 25% deduction o 2 days late: 50% deduction o More than 2 days late: no credit ------------------------------------------------------------------------ STUDENTS APPLYING TO COLLEGE: If you know of the college that you will be applying to, and you are thinking of requesting Ms. Petlak to write a letter of recommendation for you, please take note: E-mail Ms. Petlak at kpetlak@saintviator.com.
