Parents & Students:
The first week has gone well! Students have gathered supplies, worked on Resources & Geography in their ISN's
Terms we need to know:)
Dells or Laptops: New computers that students will bring fully charged daily. This class uses an on-line textbook, activities on-line, and research too! It is their textbook:) Students will start receiving them around September 21st. Parents please make sure to have:
1.) the laptop monies turned in,
2.) Code of Conduct signed & turned in
3.) On-line Electronic Safety Pact signed & turned in
4.) Parent Training
ISN: Interactive Student Notebook - Students' social studies notebook that is filled w/all the information they need for this year. Please review their resource [pgs. 1-9] and geography sections [pgs 10-20]. Students really appreciate it when parents write on their pages encouraging words too!
Index Cards: Vocabulary terms students are expected to write. The term goes on one side of the card. The definition is written on the other side. Students need to secure the cards in a Ziploc bag with: their name, class period, and T-8. These are to be brought every day to class. Students should review them 5-10 minutes nightly. As they learn the terms and definitions, they can review 1-2 weekly.
Supplies: Students need all supplies kept in a Ziploc bag, supply keeper or box for use daily. Please see list of supplies in ISN [p. 5] or at the bottom of this page under "Useful Links". I have suggested to students to check their supplies every Thurs/Fri night and make sure they have everything for Monday. If not, make a list and let parents/guardians know what they need. This will help keep them organized.
Projects: Students will have at least 1 project every 9 weeks. Next week students will receive their first one. Stay tune for more info next week.
Mailboxes: They are located on the left-hand side of the room, past the lockers. I place all extra sheets that should be in ISN or were classwork pages in this mailbox. Students can retrieve pages from this area.
Class bins: located in mailbox with each class period titled on the outside. All graded assignments will be placed here. If student is absent, they should check here for any graded assignments when they return to class.
