Mr. Putter and Tabby Fly the Plane, by Cynthia Rylant, is the wonderful tale of an old man who loves to play with toys. His constant companion, Tabby, is a nervous cat who doesn't like toys at all. In this selection, Tabby puts aside her own feelings to help Mr. Putter reach his goal of flying a toy plane.

It features hyperlinks to other sites that contain background materials and enrichment activities that go along with this week's story. Your child may want to make a paper airplane, do an online jigsaw puzzle, learn more about aviation, play a game, or download a coloring sheet. These links are provided as an extra opportunity for fun and learning for you and your second grader.
