SCIENCE NOTEBOOKS Our class notebooks offer an excellent record of what we are covering in Physical Science. Please do not throw away past notebooks. I will gladly collect and save these as they become ready for "retirement". They will also be very useful as we review for unit tests and the SOL exam in the Spring. Here is the 4th quarter Table of Contents for your science notebook so far...
FIRST 9 WEEKS:
1)
Absences from Class
Please check K-12 Planet and discuss any missed assignments, quizzes, and tests with your child. Please encourage students to get make-up assignments in to me and to make up missing quizzes and tests during Academic Wheel while the material is still fresh in their minds. There are forms available in the school library to request access to K-12 Planet.
Students, do not fall behind...If YOU are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to make up missed work. Missed assignments have a terrible impact on your overall grade!
Again, thank you for the delightful students you send me each day. They are a great group and I know they can all do well in science for the year. And thank you for helping them study, organize, and stay on task.
Quia Activities
Please keep an eye out for Quia Activities to review the material from all our tests as we prepare for the SOLs this spring.
TEST TAKING HINTS
Please work carefully on quizzes and tests. Let's work hard to do well on quizzes and tests and complete work on time.
The Poole Challenge: Improve your grade on the next test by at least 1 letter grade over the last test.
TAKE THE CHALLENGE: JUST DO IT!!!
Here's a good tip: Read the questions carefully, read ALL answers, and pick the best answer. Then, take a second pass and pretend you are grading MY test, trying to catch MY mistakes! I know you like to catch me making mistakes, so correct any you find then turn your test in!
STUDY HELP!
I found resources for our textbook online at the publishers' web site and added that link below. You should be able to go to the link (scroll down) then select Chapter-specific activities including Web Links, Online Study Tools, and WebQuest from the Chapter Resources. (Sorry. The textbook itself doesn't seem to be on line.)
