TUESDAY (5/27/08):

Today we will begin our sequence of assignments in preparation (and anticipation) of the Biology MCAS Test! We will start with a series of questions that will assess your recall of material about cells, evolution, ecology, and genetics. Once you have answered the questions, we will go over the answers!

NOTE to Periods 3 and 5: Bring your LJs to class this week... They will prove very helpful as you study for this exam!

WEDNESDAY (5/28/08):

Today we will complete Part A of the 2006 Biology MCAS Test. Then, we will discuss the results. This will give you an opportunity to see how exam questions are phrased, and how the questions are structured. Good Luck!!! You will also have an opportunity to correct your own test so that you know what portions of our curriculum you need to review.

THURSDAY (5/29/08):



Period 3: I will collect your LJs for the LAST time!!!! Hip, hip, hooray!!! Please make sure that you have them completed and submitted so that I can return them to you tomorrow. They will be very helpful as you study for your MCAS Test!!!

Today we will take Part B of the 2006 Biology MCAS Test and review the answers. I would like to spend the majority of class time today and tomorrow practicing open-response questions.

The questions are derived from previous MCAS Biology Tests, so your performance in the game may be helpful in determining what you need to practice tonight!!! ALL CLASSES... LAST WEEK
MONDAY (5/19/08):
Today we will begin with a short review of the Respiratory System... Tracing the flow of air may be a POP Quiz instead of a Warm-up! Then, you and a partner will be exploring lung capacity by using a balloon and some rulers.

NOTE:Periods 2 and 4 will be writing up a formal report on this exercise... Periods 3 and 5 focus on the Exercise lab from last week!

At last... we can start dissecting!!! We will explore the Musculoskeletal system through the dissection of a typical chicken wing! I will supply the chicken and the gloves! If you would like to donate to our class supply of gloves, any donation would be greatly appreciated!

Period 2: You will be testing today... Students in Period 2 who are not testing will report to class and we will continue with MCAS preparations.
