CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – September 9, 2025
31 Days!
Bonjour! And yes, the arrival of the Choletais is only one month from today!! Here are a few more items to note.
Hosting Update EVERY CHOLET STUDENT HAS A HOST!! We welcome the final hosts to our exchange and thank ALL of you for sharing your homes for two weeks.
Now that we have a host for everyone, we should point out that some temporary housing may or may not be necessary. There are a few host families who, for various reasons, need to leave town during the exchange - pretty much on the same weekend (October 17-19). All of these families are inviting the Cholet students to join them. We do not have their answers yet. If any prefer not to make the trip, we will find a place for them. This could mean one of you (only if you offer) taking an extra student for the weekend, or finding someone who was not able to host during the full exchange, but maybe could handle a weekend. These Cholet students are (with hosts in parentheses): Noé (Alexis Stevick), Gabin Be (Noah Post), Joséphine (Breeona Dunn), Angèle (Jocelyn Terella) and Aléssia (Lincoln Otteni). If you think you can help out, or if you know someone who may, keep this in mind until we find out what these students choose to do.
Excursion Update The Niagara Falls trip is nearly full. We have room for one more Fairview student as of this writing. Any additional sign-ups will automatically be waitlisted. As you saw in the previous paragraph, some of the Cholet students may not be with us. This will have an impact on the waitlist. The Pittsburgh trip has room for five more students. So the next five are in, and anyone after that is on the waitlist. The Cleveland trip is still in the planning stages. We hope to get something out soon. We have decided that the Erie trip will only have Cholet students, none from Fairview.
Facebook, WhatsApp, Remind We need the students to join our “WhatsApp” group and all parents (or at least one from each household) to join our “Remind” group. You are all invited to join our “Facebook” group. Scroll down to the Communications section of the August 30 update for details.
Gift Bags One of our traditions in the exchange is to present gift bags at the farewell dinner. In those bags we have a collection of souvenirs for the Cholet students and teachers to take home. What we typically include: local items that would make nice gifts without costing much money. Brochures, buttons, stickers, pens & pencils, notepads, erasers, local candy, the gift bags themselves … If you know of any places from whom you can get 29 of something donated or at a discount price, go for it! We do not want you spending a lot of money. We just need items that will provide nice memories.
Farewell Dinner This is a reminder of something from the Duties and Responsibilities page, item #11. The Cholet group will return to France on Thursday, October 23, so on Wednesday evening we will have a Farewell Dinner in the FHS cafeteria. We will have a potluck dinner and are asking the host families to provide a dish to serve. The list you see on that page is a guideline. More on that later.
That’ll do it for this update. More will be coming.
Monsieur
