CHOLET EXCHANGE UPDATE – August 30, 2025

As we enter the final six weeks of preparations, I have a few more items to go over with you.
Hosting Update We are down to our final three students that need host families, Kira, Aléssia and Louna. I’ve been keeping the search relatively limited to my French students. I will take that search school-wide now. A note should appear in the daily announcements on Tuesday. But if you know of any possible hosts, please reach out. And show them this page so they can read the introductory letters. Each year we have people offer to take a second student (thank you to those folks). We prefer to save that as a last resort. Just in case - please remind me which of you made that offer.
Flight Info! I now have the flight information. On Friday the 10th, the group is scheduled to land in Cleveland at 6:44 pm. If they are on schedule, they should arrive at FHS around 9:00 or 9:30. We usually have a brief reception in the cafeteria upon their arrival. I’ll check with the Cholet teachers to see if they would still like to do this or just get to the homes. (It’ll be 3:00 am France time, over 24 hours after leaving Cholet).
On Thursday the 23rd, they will leave FHS at 11:00 am in order to get to Cleveland for their 4 pm flight. If you’d like to see all of their flight info, it’s here. If not, skip to the Communications below.

Communications In order to keep everyone updated on our estimated arrival times at FHS when the group is traveling (arrival on October 9 plus all excursions), I will send messages. For parents, I will the an app called Remind, and for students I’ll use WhatsApp.
Parents, please download “Remind” and join Cholet Exchange October 2025 (Parents). This is not the same group we used this summer. The code for our group is @9fde4c9. I know I had some confusion when I set this up over the summer. If you are among the first to try this and it doesn’t work, please let me know (I am NOTORIOUS for needing more than one try on things like this.)
Students, to update you, I will use WhatsApp. Our group is called Fvw-Cholet octobre 2025. If you were with me in June, I have already sent you an invitation. If you didn’t get it (if I forgot you), please let me know. If you were not with me in June, please be sure to download the app. If you know how to join, great! If you need help, check with any of your classmates who are hosting (if you need a list, check this page) or come see me.
We also have our Facebook page. It’s called 2025 Fairview-Cholet Exchange 2025 Facebook Page. If you joined this for the summer portion of the exchange, this IS the same page. And if you did, I’m sure you appreciated being able to see what your kids were up to over the 17 days. Now we return the favor for the Cholet parents. Many of them are already a part of this, and I’m sure there will be more. You are invited (and encouraged) to contribute to this page. Please post pictures - especially for the times I am not with you. The families in Cholet love seeing these posts as much as you did.

Excursions Check the Excursions page (linked off the main page). Cleveland should be all set soon. For Erie, we have decided to keep that one limited to the Cholet students. Pittsburgh and Niagara Falls are set. Host families have dibs until September 12. After that, if there are any spots available, I will invite all FHS students to sign up.
