AP English III -- the HIGHLIGHT of your academic day!
This, the web page for the school year 2011-2012, is for both students and parents, and will continue to be updated regularly. It does contain links to handouts, vocabulary, and supplementary research sites for students to access. VISITING this web page and reading its updates is expected, and not just suggested.
Students remain advised that, once the school year begins, there is a 9:00 pm email rule for the most recent communications for the course; students should check regularly once the course begins for last minute information.
Students should check out the "Useful Links" at the bottom of this page to familiarize themselves with the resources available for this course. These are ENORMOUSLY HELPFUL !

Students are finished with grading period 4 and half of grading period 5, and will be reading Hamlet until Easter; this play is considered one of Shakespeare's best and most intriguing. It is not a story with significant plot, but rather a characterization of complex relationships.
Research papers -- topic being "a significant woman from history and her impact on history, past or present" -- are due April 17th, but can be turned in before the Easter break for a bonus.
After the break, students will read Genesis , a novel set in the future and based on Plato's Republic. A second reading prior to the AP test will be F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
Students will continue to have a rewriting option for most essays submitted, but they must follow protocol procedure.
