Shipp graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in 1982 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education (4-7). He has taught Science and Language Arts classes for 30+ years. (1982-1987 in Shenandoah County, VA; 1989-Present in Page County, VA) During the two year sabbatical Roger was an instructor at National Business College (Harrisonburg) teaching Writing and Reading Intervention and Interview/ Counseling Skills in the Workplace. Roger has worked with regional Juvenile and Domestic Court Agencies in Alternative Foster Care/ Counseling for 27 years in various youth placement roles. He was Director of EXCEL (an alternative behavior placement program) for five years in Page County. Roger has given seminars in Whole Language Instruction in the Junior High, Teaching Writing to At-Risk Youth, and Using Behavior Modification in the Classroom. Roger was a junior high instructor at Grove Hill Elementary School for eight years. At Grove Hill he taught grades 4-7 in Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Mathematics, Computer Technology and Language Arts. The school was a very small school, so each year's instruction varied not only in subject areas but in grade level. His present teaching role places him at Luray Middle School as a Language Arts Teacher for GRADE SEVEN.
