Welcome to the Pottery Class Web Page

This is a introductory course to clay. Basic hand-building techniques will be used to construct containers in pinch, coil, and slab configurations. Combinations of methods will be used to make complex shapes. The primary focus will be to make functional pottery. An introduction to wheel-thrown pottery will be presented. Glaze applications and firing methods will be done using the electric kiln. This class is hands on, all projects will be made in the classroom and I will demonstrate each project.

Project due dates represent the last day students can work with wet clay on that particular project. The grading of that project will happen once students have turned it in and again when they have glazed their project and it has been fired.

Students that need to make up work or would like more personal assistance with projects, can work after school. I am avalible each day after school from 2:40pm to 3:15pm.
