This year in social studies, we will cover the following SOL topics:
 Interpret information presented in picture time lines
Describe American leaders including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington Carver
Discuss lives of people associated with Presidents' Day, Columbus Day, and Independence Day
Develop map skills
Describe how location, climate, and physical surroundings affect the way people live
Explain differences between goods and services
Explain differences between needs and wants
Apply the traits of a good citizen
Recognize the symbols and traditional practices that honor and foster patriotism in the United States
Recognize that communities in Virginia include people with diverse ethnic originis, customs, and traditions and who make differing contributions to society
