Mr. Strong 9th Grade Physical Education & Health
Program Philosophy Physical Education
Physical education is a vital and purposeful part of the total educational program which provides for the optimum physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of each student. A positive self attitude is an outgrowth of a properly administered physical education program. It attempts to develop the individual's knowledge of health-related fitness and gives basic motor experiences for use in all learning situations. All should have the commom goal of developing physical and motor fitness, fundamental motor skills, skills for participation in sports, games, and leisure time pursuits, and of developing and practicing principles of lifetime/sportsmanship and etiquette.
I believe that the ultimate goal of physical education is to provide a relevant program that stresses individual worth, personal potential, and wholesome activities for self improvement which will enhance their quality of life.
All students can and should benefit from involvement in a comprehensive physical education program. To the extent possible, students will participate in the regular, planned program skill development. When there are unique needs of individual students that require special attention, the program may need to focus on specific strategies to address the needs of that child.
