FAIRVIEW - CHOLET EXCHANGE
Automne 2001
Update: August 26, 2001
You will receive this information in school on Wednesday.
I. The Excursions.
The schedule for the excursions is complete. The itineraries can be found by going to the Cholet Exchange Main Page and clicking on either Daily Itinerary - English Version or Excursions.
The prices for each trip will be added to these sites on Monday.
A maximum of 10 FHS students will be able to go on each trip. Priority will be given to students who are hosting. Then it will be handled on a first come - first served basis. Your spot is guaranteed once you pay me the appropriate amount.
II. Correspondance.
If you haven't been doing so, please keep in touch with your pen-pals / guests. If you've been having any problems in this regard, please let me know.
III. Photo Website.
I will (actually, my wife will) be creating a web site with pictures of the upcoming exchange. I plan to takes lots of pictures with a digital camera. My wife will then upload them as soon as possible onto a site (address will be announced later) with the hopes that (a) the French families back home can see what their kids are seeing and how they're doing within hours; and (b) you and your guests can see them, too.
It would be great if you helped make your pen-pals aware of this as you correspond. If the families in France don't know about this, then a large reason for doing this is wasted.
I wish I had thought of this before this past June trip we took. I will remember this and do this when we go to France in 2003!!
IV. Hosting.
Unfortunately, not every student has a home yet. If you go to the Cholet Addresses link on the Main Page, you'll see who is set and who isn't. Five girls (although I have "strong maybes" for four of them), as well as six boys (and I'm pretty sure Matt McManus is taking one of them, he just hasn't selected him yet) still need a host.
When we start school I will make more pleas to students I haven't heard from in a while. As always, if you know of somebody who'd be a good host, please talk to them and let me know -- even if they don't take French.
I think that's all for now. Thanks again to all of you and your families. We have such a unique program here. I don't know if any school around has one like it. It continues because of you and families like yours. There's no way I can properly thank you. But please know how much your efforts are appreciated by me, Madame Bouvier, Monsieur Martineau, Mrs. Youngs and everyone else involved. Thank you.
