Below is a picture of St. Oswald seated, holding a cross. It was painted by a monk called Mattew Paris of St. Albans, England between 1250 and 1259 as a manuscript illustration.

Oswald was King of Northumbria from 633 - 642 AD, and his main centre was at Bamburgh, in the part of Northumbria called Bernicia.
