Lyndon B. Johnson library and Museum (lBJ) 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Those arriving early on campus for UT Explore can enjoy the LBJ Library and Museum, which will open at 9 a.m. Highlights include: a replica of the Oval Office, a life-size President Johnson who moves as he tells tall tales, the First Lady’s Gallery and an opportunity to learn about Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson set against the backdrop of the times, the turbulent 1960s. www.lbjlib.utexas.edu
Campus Scavenger Hunt The University of Texas at Austin Visitor Center – Information available at the Littlefield Fountain, 10 a.m. Meet in front of the Littlefield Fountain to embark on a fun and educational scavenger hunt around campus. Look for clues and guess the answers to questions about UT Austin history as you search the campus. Guides will be available to lead the hunt for children and their families.

Observe the flow of water with lasers and a specialized camera, and watch it flow uphill in this water hydraulics laboratory demonstration. Noon - 4:40 p.m. A Vision of Science and the Science of Vision Robert Lee Moore Hall (RLM) 2.312 Take a look at a series of slides and movies showing the “art of science.” Participants can enjoy some fun optical illusions as well as view poster displays that describe how we see and how the brain processes the things we see. 1 - 1:40 p.m. Program repeats at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. potpourri of 3-D Earth Visualizations Jackson Geological Sciences Building (JGB) 2.216 Virtually experience geoscience as no human can. Travel into solid earth, fly high above the earth without a plane, peek into microscopic spaces. 3-D goggles provide an eye-popping view of real data. Show limited to 20 people at a time. Modern Alchemy: Transforming Algae Into Valuable Biofuel Robert A. Welch Hall (WEL) 2nd Floor Hallway Members of the Poenie Lab demonstrate techniques for extracting oil from common algae with a bioreactor. Algae has the potential to provide renewable fuel to supply the needs of everyone in the U.S. and cleanse the atmosphere of carbon dioxide. College of Natural Sciences
See Venus in the Daytime Robert Lee Moore Hall (RLM) Rooftop Get an up-close view of the sun using a high- powered solar telescope. Weather permitting, you may even be able to see Venus during the daytime. Observation may be delayed if clouds block the view. College of Natural Sciences
