Math 095 - Intermediate Algebra (5 credits)

This course covers the following topics in algebra: review of selected elementary algebra topics; absolute value equations and inequalities; factoring polynomials; rational expressions; solving rational equations; rational exponents and radicals; quadratic equations and complex numbers; functions and their graphs; inverse functions; exponential and logarithmic functions; properties of logarithms; solving polynomial, quadratic-form and radical equations. This class is taught either in traditional lecture mode or through individually tailored, interactive computer instruction that provides the student's primary method of learning, with the instructor available to assist students on an individual basis during the class period. Prerequisite: completion of Math 085 or AMath 185 with a 2.0 or higher or placement by COMPASS Algebra score of 40 or greater.
