| History | The NAT calculates an allocated quantity for each item by store, using historical sales data as a guide. |
| Allocation to Stores | The allocation is done for each item, by store. If a store does not carry a particular item or flavour group involved in a promo, there will be no allocation of that item to that store. |
| New items | For new items which have no history, search for a similar item whose sales should be used as a proxy for the new item. |
| New stores | For new stores which have no history, The Nat will automatically use a "sister" or "analog" store that has similar characteristics as the new store, to serve as a proxy. |
| Promo Only vs. All History | If the item has not been promoted before, the history of promo sales will be empty. As mentioned above, this allocation can be made using either an analog item or the non-promo history of the item. |
| Assigning item types | In the “Item Type” field, select the type of item that you are allocating. |
| When to change the forecast | The NAT recommended a forecast of 0 (indicating there was a data entry or data error). You are allocating many units to a number of items within an entirely new flavour group. With no history even at the PCS level, the allocation will not be able to calculate on any parameters or variables and all stores would end up with the same allocation. |
