Model sentences. Parts in BOLD are required. You need to know the meanings.

First declension:

porca ranam in aquâ portat. The pig is carrying the frog in the water.

porcae ranâs in aquîs portant. The pigs are carrying the frogs in the waters.

Second declension:

lupus cuculum in hortô pulsat. The wolf is hitting the cuckoo in the garden.

lupî cuculôs in hortîs pulsant. The wolves are hitting the cuckoos in the gardens.

Third declension

canis felem in monte salutat. The dog is greeting the cat on the mountain.

canês felês in montibus salûtant. The dogs are greeting the cats on the mountains.

In chart form:

Nominative case is used for the one doing the action

Accusative case is used for the one receiving the action (direct object) and after some prepositions such as AD

Ablative case is used to tell HOW and after many prepositions, such as E (EX), IN, CUM and A / AB
