Welcome to AP Biology for MST Students!

Here is where you will find information for the current unit and current, previous, and upcoming week. For past units and assignments, I will be "archiving" information in Google Classroom.

Weekly Reminders:

  • You'll have to make a copy of the Lab 6 Data Sheet.
  • Pay the $8 for the overnighter by Friday, November 14.
  • You'll have to make a copy of the data for Lab 5. You can either graph a line graph or bar graph for part A.
  • Lab 6 is due Wednesday.
  • Design table worksheet due Wednesday.
  • Unit 3 MCQ ECPC due 11:59 pm Wednesday night in preparation for the Unit 3 tests on Thursday.
  • Notebooks and Wonders due Thursday. Wonders for Unit 3 include 3.1-3.5 and Labs 13, 5, and 6.
  • Watch the signal transduction pathway video Thursday night.
  • MST Grants are due Friday via MST Research Google Classroom.
  • Watch the first 4:15 and from 7:20 to 8:15 of 40 video lecture over the weekend.
  • Watch 7:57-18:00 of 33-II video lecture over the weekend.

This Week:

Monday, November 3:
In Class: Lab 5 and PS Case Study GRACE, last chance to submit Exercise lab. Warm ups. Complete data collection for Lab 6: Cellular Respiration.
Homework: Teach the process of cellular respiration to an adult as a way to study for the quiz. Have them sign and rate your understanding of a scale from 1-4 in your notebook. Lab 6 is due Wednesday.

Tuesday, November 4:
In Class: Warm ups. Take the cellular respiration diagram quiz. Play the Kahoot to review Unit 3 concepts.
Homework: Lab 6 is due tomorrow. Work on Unit 3 Wonders (due Thursday). Rough draft of literature review due tonight.

Wednesday, November 5:
In Class: Lab 6 is due. Warm ups. Watch the Ted Talk on quorum sensing. Complete the Cell Communication questions in your notebook (using the model with beads).
Homework: Unit 3 ECPC due by 11:59 pm tonight. Wonders and notebook due tomorrow. Study for Unit 3 MCQ/FRQ tests.

Thursday, November 6:
In Class: Lab 6 GRACE. Unit 3 Wonders and Notebooks due. Take the Unit 3 MCQ and FRQ tests.
Homework: Watch the signal transduction pathway video (Edpuzzle).

Friday, November 7:
In Class: MST Grant applications due. Warm ups. Complete the Cell Communication POGIL. Watch the "Tin Man" demonstration (immune system) and receive the worksheet on Glucose and the Endocrine system.
Homework: Watch the first 4:15 and from 7:20 to 8:15 of 40 video lecture, and read the corresponding pages in the textbook. Also watch 7:57-18:00 of 33-II video lecture.

 

Next week:

Monday, November 10:
In Class: Glucose worksheet due. Warm ups. Watch the immunity system demonstrations. Complete the POGIL on the immunity system. Choose groups and roles for immunity plays.
Homework: Watch 37-II video lecture, and read the corresponding pages in the textbook.

Tuesday, November 11: Veteran's Day - No School!
Homework: Edit your final literature review.

Wednesday, November 12: Early Release!
In Class: Glucose worksheet GRACE. Warm ups. Practice your immunity plays.
Homework: Complete the Immunity POGIL and final prep for plays.

Thursday, November 13:
In Class: Immunity POGIL due. Warm ups. Perform the immunity plays. Model a neuron action potential.
Homework: Work on Unit 4A Wonders (4.1-4.4 and Science Practices 1, 2, 3, and 6).

Friday, November 14:
In Class: Immunity POGIL GRACE and Final Project Proposals due. Warm ups - Unit 4A Top Tens. Model three different synapses.
Homework: Watch 9-I and II video lectures, and read the corresponding pages in the textbook. Work on Unit 4A Wonders.

 

Last Week:

Monday, October 27:
In Class: Lab 13 due. Warm ups. Record the Z-scheme diagram for photosynthesis in notebook. Watch and practice modeling PS in table groups.
Homework: Watch videos for photosynthesis case study.

Tuesday, October 28:
In Class: Lab 13 GRACE. Warm ups. Complete the photosynthesis case study packet. Complete the pre-lab info for Lab 5 in your notebook.
Homework: Take the Lab 5 Pre-Lab quiz (below).

Wednesday, October 29:
In Class: Warm ups. Complete Lab 5, both parts.
Homework: Watch 8-I video lecture, and read the corresponding pages in the textbook.

Thursday, October 30:
In Class: Warm ups. Complete the CO2 Exercise lab. Copy the cellular respiration diagram.

Friday, October 31:
In Class: Lab 5 and Exercise lab due. Warm ups - Unit 3 Top Tens. Take the photosynthesis diagram quiz. Watch and practice the CR modeling.
Homework: Watch 8-II video lecture, and read the corresponding pages in the textbook. Complete the AP Bio Lab 6 Pre-Quiz by Saturday night.
