FINAL TEST OF THE YEAR (Pre-exam) will be Friday the 31st.  -- Botero, San Fermín, more subjunctive with "if" clauses.

30 mayo -- review C/F answers, finish reading the last article together, do a practice viewing of a report on the festival in Pamplona, Navarra, Spain.

HW = re-read the two articles, look over the vocab lists very well (20 of the 60 points are from vocab), and review this information.

when you see "como si" in a sentence, it will most ALWAYS be followed by a past subjunctive verb.    eg-- Ella habla como si supiera todo.

when you see "si" and a past subjunctive verb, the other clause in the sentence will be in the CONDITIONAL.   Si yo tuviera mil dólares, compraría una computadora.

You'll also see this in the COMPOUND forms:   Si yo hubiera tenido mil dólares, yo habría comprado una computadora.

If you see "si" and then a PRESENT tense verb, the next clause might be present tense (as in, "if the Blackhawks win, the fans in Chicago go crazy."), or maybe the future ("If the Blackhawks win, the fans WILL go crazy."), or maybe even a command ("If the Blackhawks win, get out of town.")

Keep that in mind and you'll rock it.

3 junio -- get the tests back and correct!!!! You can try a retake Tuesday or Wednesday if you had troubles.  Get the paper explaining what will be on the final exam, which will be a bit of a challenge for you on Thursday.  You'll have a chance to earn 214 points, but will have 90 or 100 minutes to do so.  Virtually everything on the exam you will have seen before, so it will be a matter of reading quickly and making quick choices of things that you have studied well.

FOR Tuesday, 4 junio, if you are able to bring something for an end of the year celebration, please do!
I'll bring some "yerba mate" which is a tea-like beverage from Argentina, and I'll get some jalapeño peppers as well if you'd like to try one :)

If you cook something Hispanic, it's worth 15 points!  (or if you bring us some yummy takeout to share from El Haragán on Northland Dr. (the old Perkins) or from Cinco de Mayo in Rockford).
