This week we are working on where Ga is in relation to our region, nation, continent, and hemispheres. We will also start our 'Walking Dead" Georgia Project which will be due Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning of next week. Next week we will review the climate and transportation of Georgia and begin our study of the early Indian cultures.Course for 2015 We will continue to talk about the climate, transportation, and how both affected the growth of our State. We will also begin the ancient cultures that were here before the explorers. You may want to watch the powerpoint attached and practice the activities. Unit two September we will study the explorers, reasons for settling, first fort, reasons for Ga becoming a colony, and the early colonists groups (Salzburgers, Malcontents, and Highland Scots). We will also cover the Royal Period and the three Royal Governors that came to Georgia. Primary and secondary documents will also be addressed. Our next Unit test will be around October 5th. The actual date will be on the calendar above when we are ready for the test. We are now exploring the reasons for the American Revolution starting with the French and Indian War (7 yr war in England), Proclamation of 1763, and the taxes as a result of the war all leading to the Articles of confederation and eventually war. Our next Unit test will be over this material. This UNIT 4 going into the winter break will be on Westward Expansion and will cover topics like religion, technological changes, land policies, Indian Removal, changes in our capitols, Manifest Destiny, Supreme Court decisions affecting the Indians, and famous people during this time. Our finals will be over all the Units covered so far this year. Please study the study guides and practice your vocabulary in quizlet. We will start the new year with Unit 5 SS8H6 and the Antebellum era leading up to the civil war. We will participate in the Geo Bee competition. This month we are working on the Civil War and the battle strategies used in the North and the South. We will explore the major battles and why they were important. Students will work on a packet where they will take notes and then chose a task to complete for each battle. So exciting, everyone passed the Civil War test! We are now beginning the Reconstruction unit. The pretest showed that hardly anyone knew any of the terms for this unit. Please start practicing the quizlet vocab for the unit. We will try for a test on Friday and then begin the New South next week around March 1st. We are working on Reconstruction followed by The New South. Just before Milestones we will be doing WWI, WWII, factors affecting farming, the Olympics, and some of our important mayors and governors during this time. Then we will try to get in some of the Government items before Milestones starts. Please be studying the earlier vocabulary that we have learned in the units before April 12th.
