Bienvenue à la classe de français de Mme Saam

For this class you need to bring the following elements on a daily basis:
*Folder or binder with log *Paper and writing materials
*Assignments due *Composition book for journal/notes
In addition, Madame will ask you to bring in one of the following items for class use.
low odor dry erase markers (no yellow please)
8-pack washable markers
box of tissues
ASSESSMENT:
Your grade will be based on the average of the grades in five categories (listening, speaking, reading, writing, and participation/teacher discretion.
Listening = 20% Reading = 20% Discreet points/participation = 20%

There will be approximately two quizzes/tests each week. Your participation in class as a whole, and small group activities will be factored into each of the performance categories as per activity. Technology will be an integral part of the language program. It is important that you use it appropriately and stay focused on the assigned task. You will be given ample opportunity to practice so that you will be successful, just remember to use the allotted time wisely :-)
CLASSROOM AGREEMENT
Be courteous
Be prepared
Be responsible
Be flexible
In other words - BE PROFESSIONAL
MAKE-UP WORK...
YOU are responsible for your make-up work! If you are absent, talk to another French student in your class to see what happened in your absence. If any new handouts were given, please ask, or better yet, ask a student to take one for you if you are absent (buddy system). Returned papers should be filed in your French binder/folder. COMPLETE WORK IN A TIMELY FASHION. This includes work using technology. If you have any questions or concerns, see me after class, at another convenient time during the day, or before or after school. THERE WILL BE HELP SESSIONS EVERY MONDAY AFTER SCHOOL - UNLESS TOLD OTHERWISE. (If we are off Monday, the help session will be on Tuesday.) This is an excellent time to watch a missed video or CD-rom activity. Can’t make the session? I am available most every day of the week until 3:30 or 4:00 pm. Just let me know so that you’ll know where to find me :-). PLEASE, DON’T HESITATE TO STOP IN FOR HELP. I’M HERE FOR YOU!
QUIZZES AND MAKE-UPS
All quizzes and tests will be announced a few days in advance. As a result, you are expected to take the quiz or test on that date. If you are absent the day before a test or a quiz (a review day), you must still take the quiz or test on the assigned day, since no new material would have been covered. If you are absent on the test or quiz day, you must make arrangements to take it. You MAY NOT make it up during class time - we will be moving on, and you need to be learning the new material. For extended absences, see me. I will set up a make-up schedule for you to complete.
ASSIGNMENTS and CONTACT INFORMATION
You will be receiving a calendar listing probable homework assignments and tentative quiz/test dates. If there are changes to the calendar, they will be announced during class, and posted on my internet HW page:
http://www.schoolnotes.com/43219/mmesaam.html
I update the page regularly, and include links to games for practicing vocabulary, and learning activities. There is also a link for contacting me via email.
In addition, parents can call the school, and leave a number where I can reach them during my conference period, or at a more appropriate time.
