Great Stories of the 20'th Century
                  BOB MARLEY...lives on :)

Bob Marley, born 1945 in in Jamaica, was a very gifted musician, singer and composer, who became a legend during his life time. The story of Bob Marley and the genius of his work is definitely in a strong way tied to the beginning of music, faith and the natural mystic of his native Jamaica. Indeed, Marley's Reggae music brings a spiritual and social message that applies to people and leaders of Industrial nations and Third World countries alike. He was the main driving force behind the development of  reggae music. Although Bob Marley passed away in 1981, his music has  universal appeal.

Through his music Bob Marley has been able to keep a strong message going on throughout the years although he has been away for quite awhile. The message transcends racial, religious, and social-class boundaries.  And at the same time continuing to inspire younger generations. Whether or not you are a raggae fan does not matter when Bob Marley is present in your life, although he is catergorized under the music Raggae he falls under much more than that.

Since May 11, 1961 when he passed away from being diagnosed with cancer the love of his music has not changed a bit.  Bob Marleys family is still carrying him on throughout the lives of many people.  Creating websites, designing merchandise for fans to purchase.  People all around are definitly keeping his spirit flowing.

Although Marley has not been with us for quite a while, he proved to be the most significant musical artist of the twenteith century.  His death only brought more attention to the effort and drive he had in making his music, and pleasing the public.  He definatly accomplished this and more.

Bob was many times not always present in his home Jamaica because he had traveled so many places, and touched so many hearts.  Been all around the world in places such as, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.  Only proving that his music was truely an "international style of raggae."  Thats a main reason as to why his death hit so many souls.

Bob and the wailers, broke festival records throughout the continent attracting over 100,000- people. He was then invited to the United Nations in New York to receive the organisation's Medal of Peace.  The music played by the genius mind of Bob and the Wailers only did bring love and peace, no doubt about it.  The inspiring words to make everything better, and to live life to its fulliest encouraged many many in their present lives.

Knowing that where ever these musicans traveled, their international success boosted Marley's growing political importance in Jamaica. His music touched and was highly involved in Jamaicas "ghetto youth."  In America Rastaman Vibration, the follow up album in 1976, not only was at the top, but cracked the American charts. Two totally different locations, but the same exact impact.

Also, albums released were always popular every which way.  In a very unique way did each album hold personality.  Cd's made and placed in stores, rapidly would run out, and if they were not being bought, his music was being listened to live.  Business for Bob, was in no means difficult.  The key to his success was to "enjoy the music, feel the music and send out the music just as strong as your feeling it."

Bob Marley feels for mortality, fighting, and the intensity of emotion, that drives his music.  And when these aspects clearly drive his music, this drives everyone around his music. Only can he make the society crave for his music and wise words when he is not there.

No bad song, no bad thought, no bad emotion ever was sensed in the spirit of Bob, and never will be forgotten. His death, although he never really died in the eyes of his true fans, Robert Marley will always be present.  Records always be sold, merchandise always be bought, may respects be paid always and forever to the long live musical God of raggae.
"every little thing is gonna be alright"~Bob

                         COMMENT

Here is something said by Bob Marley that says everything that needs to be said. It is something that shows what is the only thing that is important in life. Here it is: "Facts an' facts an t'ings an' t'ings: dem's all a lotta f****n' bull****. Hear me. Dere is no truth but de one truth, an' that is de truth of Jah Rastafari." Bob Marley said what he beleived in this passage. By saying this he said in a way that the only thing that can be trusted and the only thing that is true in this world is the Truth that is Jah, or God.

If you listen to and live by that, some say that the the rest of your life will fall into it's place. Into the place that God or has planned for you. This passage is just about that. It is about a musical god and his music. A man with a message that he got across to millions, including me. The one the only, Roberta Nesta Marley.

Bob Marley's music became the anthem of a ghetto-youth generation and the power behind his lyrics remains to this day.  He taught the world what real reggae music was about.  An island boy, born in Jamaica, in 1945, of mixed-race parents, Marley is the only reggae star to reach international status.  He made his first recording at the age of 17 and at 19 began singing with The Wailers.

A strong Rastafarian (jailed in the States for possession of marijuana), Marley's lyrics drew hugely on his religious and political views.  The lyrics of "War"  on of the most celebrated album, are from a speech made by Haile Selassie.  And as you know he was to become the most important symbol of rastafarianism. During his time on the throne he made a lot of reformations he gave the people the right to vote, he also gave all his people the right to attend school.  The Rastafarians believe that he lives on in their spirits, and he is the everlasting God(JAH.)

From being Jamaica's local hero, Marley suddenly found international status after huge success brought on by tours in the UK and US.  His song lyrics made it difficult for him to live in a tense homeland, mostly political surrounded by violenence.  In 1976 Marley was shot-the identity of the gunmen was never discovered.  Marley survived, but began spending more of his time in the States, although his roots always remained in Jamaica.  The man who brought reggae to the world died tragically of brain cancer on May 11, 1981, but his legend lives on in all who sing and listen to reggae today...:)

Since there wasn't any words able to describe Bob Marley, other than unique, laid back, and always having a unstressful look on his face. I decided to post song lyrics, of Mellow Mood. Through this and his other songs, Bob Marley expresses his love for Jah, his country, his roots and last but not least..common man :)
Marleys revolutionary style heard in his many beautiful soothing songs refresh what the feeling of freedom is like. Through his short life Marley has inspired many people, and made the world a better place to live in. So here are the lyrics to a song of Bobs.  This way you all could get a feel for the style of his music. Here you are.....

                      Mellow Mood
I'll play your fav'rite song, darlin'.
We can rock it all night long, darlin'.
'Cause I've got love, darlin',
Love, sweet love, darlin'.
Mellow mood has got me,
So let the music rock me.

'Cause I've got love, darlin'.

Quiet as the night,
Please turn off your light.

Strike the hammer while iron is hot.
Strike the hammer while iron is hot.
Open up your heart.
Open up your heart.
Love love come running in, darlin',
Love, sweet love, darlin'.

Strike the hammer while iron is hot.

                         Travel/business:

To this day, people all over the world, go and visit Bob Marley and his family as well.  People travel all over the world as he did for the people when he was still alive. When Bob Marley passed away at the age of 36, he was taken back to the town of his birth — Nine Miles, Jamaica. There, a large, white tomb was with strong feeling in and around it was put upright only a few feet away from the small stone house in which Bob Marley was born in 1945.

In 1991 the Jamaican government stated February 6th, Bob Marley’s birthday, a national holiday. As a result, a large stage was built behind the mausoleum and birth house where, every year since, performers have been celebrating his memory on this day. Now this, would definitely be worth visitng if you were able to fit it in your schedule.  This is so you can see and experience  the site where he is buried and the lively festivals are held in his honor.

National events, festivals, gatherings, everything is held for Bob, celebrating his birth day which is a national holiday.  People from all over come and pay respect. The Annual Bob Marley Festival the Tour visits approximately twenty cities each year. Over the last 10 years, the Tour has visited 45 cities around the world making it the longest annually touring festival in the world.

Another interesting place, that fans after Marleys death visited was The Bob Marley Museum in Kingston which is the former home of the Honorable Robert Nesta Marley.  This was where Bob, and Pete spent most of their time.  Also it is  where the Tuff Gong Recording Studio was first built.

All in all, although Bob has not been with us for awhile, he still gets visitors more than ever. His popularity if anything is only growing, and more interest is being payed to him.  His family is supporting every step of the way, allowing the public to remember the magnificant artist of the 20'th century.  You would be surprised as to how many people travelt o see the arts of this man, or even what he has touched before...amazing things can happen from the birth of one man.

                        Business/travel:
         (aka-funding/donation to organizations)

The main deal is the two day festival celebrating Bob marley.  The festival admission is $7 presale.  In the spirit of Bob Marley, fans can get into the Festival during the first 3 hours each day by donating $5 in cash or $8 in non-perishable food. In 1991, the Festival began its tradition of asking the public for donations of food for nonprofit organizations. Over the last 10 years, this tradition has generated over $225,000 in cash and over 1,000,000 pounds of food and books for nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S.

Now another type of business involved with Bob Marley after his death, and well during his past as well was the Bob Marley Store :)  This store includes books, clothes, accesories, music, posters, videos, jewlery and alot more.  Fans from all over the world can access this store by going online and ordering right off from there.  Prices range as well as design.   Its surprising how much business the Marley family must be recieving, its definitely a well upgraded attention getting online store.

The aim of the Bob Marley Foundation is to become  involved with charity within the community.  The Foundation has donated financially and culturally to various local organizations. The main objective of the Foundation however, is to reach others in need, through love and brotherhood. The foundation shall continue to pursue the direction of a charitable organization in its operations and aim to fulfill all the requirements provided by the Jamaican government in its policy on such organizations.

The Foundation manages its affairs by planning, promoting many different activities such as art exhibitions, film festivals, workshops for cultural developments, and talent search programs. Bob Marley week, which celebrates Bob's birthday locally, is one of the major events planned by the Foundation along with the Jamaica Tourist Board.

The foundation carries out its responsibilities through entities such as the the Museum which houses a theatre and gallery, a Library, gift shops and a unique African restaurant.  The update of  technological towards the Foundation is an ongoing process.
