Fourth graders learned weather expressions, the seasons, and how weather and seasons are reversed in the Northern and the Southern Hemispheres. The equator and the country Ecuador were discussed and how the equator divides the World. Girls at AAG wrote and acted out their own Weather Reporter Skits and a DVD was made of their performance. Boys at AA learned songs related to weather and played weather game competitions. The students also learned how to express likes/ dislikes in Spanish. Topics also covered were months of the year and talking about doing different activities during different times of the year. Culturally, students learned how dates are expressed in a different manner in Spanish than in English and that some children in Spanish speaking countries also celebrate a saint’s day. Lastly, the students learned tener expressions to express being hungy, thirsty, cold, hot, tired, in pain, ill, scared, an age, in a hurry, right, and lucky. Culturally, they learned a rhyme used by Spanish speaking children to ask how old you are and learned about a quinceañera.
