Advanced Placement Examinations:
The AP Exam in Statistics will be held on  May , 2019, in the afternoon.
Arrangements should be made with your guidance counselors (either here or your home schools).
The exam has two sections.

[1]  Multiple Choice
[2]  Free Response

Beyond AP :
This course, besides fulfilling the Advanced Placement requirements, is designed to reflect the philosophy and mission of AAE.  Problem solving and applications to other areas, in particular the sciences, will be emphasized.  The AP Exam is but one way to measure success.  True mathematical literacy that can be integrated with, and applied in all areas of research and investigation is our ultimate goal.

Grades:    Credit should be granted at the Advanced Placement level only if you take the test.  Check your grade on Power School often.  Feel free to request a printed grade report at any time.

The AP Statistics curriculum is divided into four main sections

Exploring Data: observing patterns and departures from patterns
Planning a Study: deciding what and how to measure
Anticipating Patterns: producing models using probability and simulation
Statistical Inference: confirming models

These four sections are covered in the course text as follows

Exploring Data (chapters 1-4)
Planning a Study (chapter 5)
Anticipating Patterns (chapters 6-9)
Statistical Inference (chapters 10-14)

The course moves at a very quick pace to cover all chapters before the AP Exam and leave at least a few days for exam practice.  To keep up, students must read and do a substantial number of homework problems.  All grades are calculated on a total points system.  Every assignment, quiz, test, project, etc. will receive a set number of points.  This approximate breakdown is: Homework 25% Assessments/Projects 75%.  After the AP exam, the course will cover one or two additional topics and there will be a final cumulative project. Feel free to use your capstone topic. There will be a midterm exam and a final exam and/or project.
There are NO RETAKES!
