Multiple Choice Questions

1. Read the question and all available answers.
2. Eliminate answer choices that you know are incorrect by drawing a line through them.
3. If you are not sure of a formula or a definition, LOOK FOR IT ON THE REFERENCE TABLES!!!!
4. Answer all questions, leave nothing blank. You have a 25% chance of getting the right answer without knowing anything at all!!
5. Don't panic, in the grand scheme of life your Chemistry Regents Exam is not that important. (But for the day of the exam it is :)! )

Free Response Questions

1. Read all given information, including diagrams and labels on graphs before answering questions.
2. Be sure to answer the question that they ask, sometimes this will have nothing to do with what you just read.
3. Show all work for all calculations.
4. Be sure to report your answers with correct units and significant figures.
5. If you are not sure of a formula or a definition, LOOK FOR IT ON THE REFERENCE TABLES!!!!
6. Answer all questions, leave nothing blank. I may be able to award points for partial credit. You can only gain points, I cannot take them away, so take a guess!! (An educated guess is best.)

What to Do Before You Take the Test

1. Eat a sensible meal.
2. Make sure you bring in proper materials, pens & calculator.
3. Dress in layers. Your room may be very cold or very warm, you don't want to be uncomfortable while taking the exam.
4. Study. Don't try to cram it all in, but gloss over some notes, try to remind yourself of key ideas, don't get caught up in minor details.
5. Get a good night's sleep. Your brain is like a muscle, it needs rest in order to work properly.
