During today's class time in the computer lab we will begin putting together our poetry booklets. You will use MS Publisher to complete this task. Begin by opening Publisher and selecting the book fold option. Decide how your book will look and then begin editing by using the editing features in Publisher. Feel free to add graphics to the pages but make sure to keep a good balance between graphics and text on the pages.
Save your work but do not print it until you get approval to do so. This assignment is due Wed, June 1.

Ballads are long poems that tell a story. Poets often draw inspiration for ballads from tragic events or heroic tales. Today's assignment is to create a ballad. Use the writing process to create your ballad. You may review the Gordon Lightfoot's ballad The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald in the window above.

Today's assignment is to scroll down to the bottom of this page and complete the LearnAlberta activity at the last link. Your task is to do the activities at the link then produce a piece of writing from the activity. Please hand in what you have done at the end of the period.

Today's assignment will follow up on yesterday's reading; "Tell the World" by Severn Suzuki.
1. If you wish to review the video feel free to do so.
2. Brainstorm ideas for your speech with a partner. Make sure to consult the outline from the assignment description in Cornerstones.
3. Write the first draft of your speech.
NOTE: Your speech should not be longer than 2-3 minutes. 1 minute is equal to about 1 page of double spaced text in 12 pt.

In today's lesson you will create a story based on a picture. You will have this English period to do this work. Follow the steps below to create your story.
1. Look at the 4 pictures in the bulletin board above. Choose one of the pictures.
2. Brainstorm some ideas with a partner.
3. Write your story in MS Word. Make sure to save it to your H drive.
4. Make sure to use figurative language in your writing.
5. To hand in your story, click on the quiz activity link below titled "writing a story based on a picture."
6. Copy and paste the text from your story into the box and then press submit.

In today`s lesson you will explore and evaluate two of these websites. Start by scrolling to the bottom of this page and then click on the last 2 links in the list.
After you have explored the 2 websites complete the activity. In the activity you will evaluate the usefulness of these website. Please click on the last link in the list to access the form. When you are finished make sure to print your form. It is due Friday
