The FIRST THING THAT YOU NEED TO DO: WATCH A VIDEO OVER THE VERBS querer and tener.

*** Tener and Querer are both IRREGULAR verbs. They do not follow the conjugation rule for regular verbs....

Tener can also be used when we would use "am/are/is" The following is a list of those uses that are called "tener idioms".
Tengo hambre I'm hungry
Tengo sed I'm thirsty
Tengo miedo I'm scared
Tengo sueño I'm sleepy
Tengo calor I'm hot
Tengo frío I'm cold
Tengo dolor I'm hurt
Tengo seis años I'm six years old
¿Tienes tú hambre? Are you hungry?
¿Tienes tú sed? Are you thirsty?
¿Tienes tú miedo? Are you scared?
¿Tienes tú sueño? Are you sleepy?
¿Tienes tú calor? Are you hot?
¿Tienes tú frío? Are you cold?

¿Cuántos años tienes tú? How old are you?
Tener prisa-to be in a hurry
Tengo prisa- I am in a hurry
Tener suere - to be lucky
Juan tiene suerte - Juan is lucky
Tener razón- to be right
Tú tienes razón- You are right
¿Qué tiene ella? - What's wrong with her?
¿Tiene ella prisa? Is she in a hurry?
¿Qué tiene la mujer? - What's wrong with the lady?
¿Qué tiene el hombre? - What's wrong with the man?

tú quieres= You (informal) want
él/ella/usted/María quiere = He wants, she wants, you (formal) want, María wants
nosotros queremos = We want
ellos/ellas/ustedes/María y Juana quieren = They want, You all want, María and Juan want
******What do you notice is ADDED to the stem of TENER and QUERER (remember, the stem is what is left when you remove the endings ar, er, or ir). In what form is that NOT done?
****notice that necesitar is a REGULAR changing verb.
NECESITAR = to need
yo necesito =I need
tú necesitas you (informal) need
él/ella/usted/María necesita = He needs, she needs, you (formal) need, María needs
nosotros necesitamos = We need
ellos/ellas/ustedes/María y Juana necesitan = They need, you all need, María and Juana need

IR= to go ***Notice that IR is an IRREGULAR verb, it doesn't follow the rule of conjugation.
yo voy = I go/I am going
tú vas = You (informal) go, You are going
él/ella/usted/María va = he goes/is going, she goes/is going/ you (formal) go/are going, María goes/is going
nosotros vamos= We go/ are going
ellos/ellas/ustedes/María y Juana van = They go/ are going, you all go/are going, María and Juana go/are going
READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!***** if the verb ir or its forms is followed by the word "a" in Spanish it means to GOING TO --- Example Yo VOY A ESTUDIAR. I AM GOING TO STUDY. ELLOS VAN AL PARQUE= THEY ARE GOING TO THE PARK. ("A" = TO; "EL" = THE------- TO THE------- BUT: -----"A" PLUS THE WORD "EL" BECOMES "AL" IN SPANISH WHEN THEY ARE USED TOGETHER)***********

VER= to see ***Notice that VER is also an IRREGULAR verb, But only in the YO form.
