Ag CSI Scenario 2008-2009
The United States Department of Energy and USDA are cooperating to select a team of agricultural scientists to research the potential impact of the PickensPlan on agricultural production. Your goal is to be selected as the research team that will research and potentially solve the energy crisis.
AgCSI Teams may want to address the following issues, however teams are free to change or add to this list of problems:
a. WHO is on your team?
b. WHAT agricultural product(s) will you research as viable sources of biofuels? If chosen for the mission, what specific experiments would your team conduct?
c. WHEN would you project that your team would be ready to present your research summary?
d. WHERE would you conduct your research?
e. WHY would you want to be selected for this research project? Why would you conduct the experiments?
f. HOW will your team members work together to solve this problem?
The Pickens Plan emphasizes Wind and Natural Gas - "POTENTIAL" Concerns that may warrant research: a) wind turbine impacts on pollination; b) wind turbine impacts on livestock; c) interference of cell phone reception caused by wind turbines; d) shading affect of wind turbines on crop production; natural gas exploration impact(s) on agriculture
