Human Geography Unit 2: Compelling Question

How are human settlements influenced by Earth's physical characteristics?
Directions: The compelling question is based on you analyzing providing documents and you incorporating conceptual knowledge you have learned during your Unit 2 studies. It is designed to assess your level of ability to form an argument, create a thesis (claim) statement as well as your level of skills to support your thesis with information you have acquired during your involved studies for the Human Geography unit.
It is valuable to for you to address the compelling questions using supporting documents provided with this assessment so that the teacher can easily score all students responses using a rubric. Each document you use will be labeled as Source A, B, C, D and etc.
Your written response should meet the following criteria:

General Rubric

1. Your self-created thesis statement that addresses the compelling question clearly in the beginning of your writing. In other words, your thesis statement should be identified in your introductory paragraph before you write other details to address the compelling question. A cue to writing a powerful claim statement is simply to restate the question as your opening to start writing sincerely about the topic at hand. (10 points) ____
2. Incorporate and address at least three Source documents in your answer. For instance, You can state Source A is example of how people.... Source B describes reasons why people migrate to... etc. (30 points) ____
3. Provide a conclusion that revisits your thesis and summarizes your evidence you have discussed in your written report where your sole purpose was to address the compelling question. (10 points) ____
4. Examine the rubric and check off that you have met the criteria to write (and/or) type your essay report with high success.
This report is worth a product grade of 50 Points)
