All of my exercises can be helpful for students who wish to acquire a reading knowledge of German.  I have been teaching German for Reading to students in the University of Chicago community since the '70s.  My book is filled with proverbs and aphorisms, and has tips for translating German not found in most other textbooks.  My book is:  
German Quickly:  A Grammar for Reading German, published by Peter Lang, and it can be ordered from Amazon.com
