CAREER EXPLORATION PROJECT
Your Career Exploration Project is a research paper for future careers that you are interested in. In completing this project, you should learn about the many occupations that may be of interest to you. Throughout this project you should think about what interest you and the professions that you may excel in. You need to research and find out everything that you can about the careers you have selected. You should try and have fun with this search, learning about the many opportunities that you have for your future! Make sure to be realistic about your future careers. (no picking being a king). Ensure you are actually working on something you are interested in and not just something you are doing to just meet the requirement for the class.
The following are guidelines to aid in your project:
1. Pick three (3) career fields. These should be different areas you are interested in.
2. Within each career field pick three (3) occupations that interest you
3. Turn in a paper with the 3 career fields and the 3 occupations for each field (that would be 9 occupations total)
4. Start researching each of the career fields for each of the occupation. After your research you will be completing the written part of you project, that should include for each occupation:
A. A paragraph on the occupation describing in detail what is involved in the job. Just exactly what does the job do, where, how and maybe even why.
B. A paragraph describing what is required for the occupation. Does it require a degree, vocational training, on-the-job training, apprenticeship training, a certification, or any additional requirements that may be physical or legal.
C. A paragraph on what you need to do to prepare for this occupation if you desire to pursue it. Not just that you need a high school diploma, of a Bachelor’s Degree, what classes should you take, what else could you do to prepare for the job.
D. A paragraph on the job with information you have discovered about what the future prospects for employment are, where are there going to be employment openings, and how much an individual could expect to make in the field, starting out and after having experience and working in the career.
5. This project requires that you complete these 4 paragraphs for each of the occupations, so you will have 9 of these finished when you turn in you project.
6. Additional requirements –
o You may not work with another student to turn in the same project – do not copy another student’s work, making minor changes and expect to receive a passing grade.
o Your project should be typed and neat, you have the use of the class Chromebook to complete this project
o Neatness counts, wrinkled, dirty, messy papers will result in a reduced grade.
