Welcome SCUBA students. This online tutorial is provided to help you through the new SCUBA program offered at your High School. The most important thing to remember is that this program is supposed to be fun. You will receive a grade, based upon attendance, participation and a final test score. Remember we are studying SCUBA, not rocket science. You will spend time in the classroom and in the pool learning the basic skills and techniques necessary to dive safely anywhere in the world.
This program is purely voluntary. You are under no obligation to go into the ocean or get certified. These are options in our program and will be explained in great detail during the first few days of class. You will want to check this site regularly. It will help remind you of upcoming activities throughout your three week course. You will see a list of forms to download and then print. Please make sure you bring these forms with you on the first day of class. They need to be signed by your mom or dad as well as by yourself. You will also need to bring your $20 Lab Fee.

Nothing else is necessary to start. You should remember to bring your Parents to our Parent Meeting. The date for the Parent Meeting is on the flyer you received at school. Remember that this is one meeting you really want your parents to attend. Let them know the dates now so they can plan properly.
You do need to be a comfortable swimmer, but no marathons are done here. This is all about having a good time learning how to dive. If your nervous about fish, this class is perfect. If you are afraid of water, think about skydiving. If you want to get out of running around the track, then you're starting diving for the same reasons that I did - to get out of regular P.E. Remember you will receive a grade in this class, so your cooperation is necessary to complete the tasks.
Check the calendar link at the bottom of the page for upcoming activities. For the last 30 years, this is what we have done. Ocean Gear is a provider of fun SCUBA activities to the public high school system. We're glad your trying this out. Get ready. We'll see you in class.

NOTE: When Printing the Relative Files, you must remember to save the file first to your hard drive and then open the form. Two of the forms are in a .pdf format. This requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader to open. If you do not have this installed on you computer, go to www.adobe.com (see the link below) and download the reader for FREE. There will be more forms posted, so check back often. These will help you in the class.
