COURSE OVERVIEW
Spanish 1 is an introduction course for students who wish to pursue a language study toward the basic college admission requirements. They will learn to use the language meaningfully, and will begin to develop skills to communicate in the Spanish-speaking world. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in terms of function and application to real life situations. The skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening are stressed. There is also a focus on how language and culture interact, which gives students insight into their own language and culture.
