The Board of Education requires that we do not include Student names or pictures on our Millburn High School web pages that are posted to the internet on the Millburn server.It should be noted that only appropriate material should be placed on the site. Clearly hate material, pornographic, or demeaning materials, cursing or material designed to hurt others or make someone feel badly should not be included nor referenced. Also please respect copyright law, and the work of others.

Assignment 1
Science and Technology
done in class, save to hard drive - not submitted for grade unless requested by teacher.
Web Page development - extra simple method.
Objectives - Student will:
- Use WORD to produce a web page from a prepared DOC format.
- reveal the code persented by the program
- identify the major code sections in HTML That is, HTML>Head>Body
Alternative task - make a web page using Photoshop.
TASK
- create a new folder in your class folder called "webpages"
- open that folder and create a new folder in it that is called "wordhtml"
please note that there are to be no spaces between words in folders and file names that will be used on the internet.
- Open you report from assignment 1
- Use the "file" menu item "save as HTML"
- be sure to save to your new "wordhtml" folder to create a web page with no work on your part.
- to view your web page, open a browser, use file open, and browse your hardrive to find your folder. If you want your page to open automatically, change its name to "index.html".
Alternative task - make a web page using Photoshop.
Assignment2
create a web page using HTML. We will make a page with only the bare bones called first.html and one copy that to make a more complex page called second.html. Remember: only use lower case letters, only use html as the extension, and do not use spaces in your file names. Keeping names short (eight letters or less) is useful and makes it easy to type them in.
Create a folder in your
documents area called “2webpagesmn” the “2” should be your class period and the
“mn”at the end must be your initials.
We will place all work in that folder called 4webpagesmn.

Web Page development - INTERACTIVE LEARNING
Objectives - Student will:
- Use practice html using the interactive tutorial.
TASK
- Go to the bottom of this page and find the link for "Dave's HTML tutorial" do mini chapters 1 thru 9.
make another web page using the following tags.
special tags used in our second web page
- "body bgcolor=" sets the page color
- "img src=" inserts an image file
- "h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6" headline font sizes - remember only use these for headlines if you want to change text size within a sentence or paragraph use the "font size=" tag.
- "font size=" changes font size within a sentence
- "font color="changes the color of the text
- "ol" this tag starts a list of numbered items - each item must be identified with a "list item" tag. also dont forget to end the entire list with a closing tag "/ol"
- "li" this is the list item tag - place it in front of each item in a list nested in an ordered or unordered list.
- "ul" this tag stats a list of bulleted iems - each item must be identified with a "list item" tag. also dont forget to end the entire list with a closing tag "/ul"
Assignment 3 - Making a web site
Objectives
-Student will:
- use Geocities to set-up a web site
- copy and paste the file index.html created in class into the text editor and upload to internet
- Agree not to use any personal information about themselves such as address, phone, last name, as is school policy
- add background color to the page.
- create a web site using various web development tools
Task –
Using the related class work of writing a web page in html as a part of assignment 3,
You are to access http://www.geocities.com, join Yahoo, and set up a web page. We will work on this assignment together.
Once you have set up your site, you can begin to start your web page for this class assignment.

Option A- create a web site about an area of interest related to web page development. ACC CLASS
Students will work in teams again (no more than 3 people per team, you may choose to work alone if you are sick of team work) to produce a web site about one of the topics listed. Your team must select a unique topic - no duplicates. make a new folder in your geocities acount and place all information in that folder. Keep a duplicate set of all files on your computer as well.
Let Mr. Keller know your topic ASAP because we will not allow duplicate topics - first come first served!

- all material will have links to identify the source of the information. These links will work.
- you will have a week to get this together.
- you may use any web building tool you like, HTML is prefered but not required. However, remember that HTML is a lot easier to fix when you get into trouble. Building the pages in simple text would be my choice.
