Welcome to Summer School!

Usually Summer School isn't fun, and it isn't, BUT it can be convenient!  The advantage of an online course is that you can do it without coming to a HOT classroom for 20 days! 

The hardest part of this course is KEEPING UP with your assignments and turning in your assignments on time!  You will have timed online quizzes to test your progress and it is important that you study carefully BEFORE you begin a quiz because they are all timed and once you begin you can't stop the clock!

This class is designed that you can move ahead of schedule, but DO NOT FALL BEHIND!  All your homework assignments must be sent to Mr. Bauer at:
jrbauer09@gmail.com on or before the day they are assigned.



At registration, I will collect your tuition ($350.00), confirm your gmail addresses and pass out the master schedule.  I will also explain how you will sign in to take a Quia Quiz.  You will need BOTH your textbooks for summer school.  Any student who ends the course on time with an 85% average will qualify for a $50.00 rebate.
You will get regular updates of your class average via gmail.  Good luck!

DAY ONE SCHEDULE:
1.  Read the notes that will be gmailed to you for Chapter Two of your Christology course.
2.  Read and highlight pages 25-30 in your Christology textbook.
3.  Answer this question carefully and gmail it to Mr. Bauer at jrbauer09@gmail.com    
QUESTION:  According to the textbook reading, what is the difference between "historical truth" and "religious truth?"   10 points

DAY TWO SCHEDULE:
1.  Read & highlight pages 30-39 in the Christology book.
2.  Answer questions "For Review" 1-3.  Gmail your answers to jrbauer09@gmail.com  10 points

DAY THREE SCHEDULE:
1. Read and highlight pages 39-46.
2. Make a chart that identifies the differences of each Gospel by author, audience, theme, topics, message.  Which came first, second, etc.. 
3. Gmail a copy of your chart/notes to Mr.Bauer (jrbauer09@gmail.com) 10pts.
4. Quiz tomorrow online.

DAY FOUR SCHEDULE:
1. Take the "Chapter 2 QUIZ" below.  Make sure you have studied first!  You can use your notes and textbook for help, but be careful.... the clock is ticking!  50 pts.
2. Read pages 94-100 and define these terms and gmail your answers to jrbauer09@gmail.com.   Here are the terms:
a. Shema   b. Sabbath   c. Pentecost    d. Day of Atonement   e.  Paschal lambs
f.  Jerusalem    g.  The temple  (20 points)

DAY FIVE SCHEDULE:
1. Read & highlight pages 100-103.
2. Define these terms and gmail to Mr. Bauer:
a.  Zealots   b. Scribes   c. Tax collectors   d.  High priest    e. Sadducees
f.   Pharisees    g. The Great Sanhedrin   (20 points)

DAY SIX SCHEDULE:
1. Study your notes, terms and highlights for pages 94-103
2. 50 point quiz tomorrow!  Study!!!

DAY SEVEN SCHEDULE:
1. Take the quiz below on "Jewish Terms"  Be careful!  Once you start the clock, you can't stop it!  You can use your notes and textbook for help!
2. Homework:  Read pages 105-113.  Type up a summary of the two different Gospels that speak of the Infancy Narratives.  Who wrote them?  Who were they written for?  What was the theme for each author?  What symbols did each author use to make their point?  (20 points)  Gmail to Mr. Bauer!

DAY EIGHT SCHEDULE:
1.  Read the notes gmailed to you from Mr. Bauer on the "Infancy Narratives"
2.  Read & highlight pages 114-117
3.  Answer "For Review" questions 1 & 2 on page 117.  (10 points)  Gmail to Mr. Bauer at jrbauer09@gmail.com

DAY NINE SCHEDULE:
1.  Read & highlight pages 118-123.
2.  Answer questions 1-4 "For Review" on page 123.  (10 points)  Gmail to Mr. Bauer at jrbauer09@gmail.com.
3.  50 point quiz tomorrow!!!!  Study & review pages 105-123.

DAY TEN SCHEDULE:
1.  Take the Chapter 5 quiz below for pages 105-123 - Chapter 5 - the Infancy Narratives.  50 points!  make sure you watch the clock!  Once you begin, you can't stop the clock!
2.  You made it to the 1/2 way mark of summer school!  No homework!




DAY 11 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read and highlight pages 193-195 in Chapter 9 of your Christology textbook.
2.  Read the notes gmailed to you by Mr. Bauer
3.  Answer this question in PARAGRAPH form:  Give 3 reasons why some people found Jesus to be a threat to themselves?  Explain!  Gmail:  jrbauer09@gmail.com

DAY 12 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read nad highlight pages 196-201.
2.  Answer questions 1-4 "For Review" on page 201.  Gmail to Mr. Bauer  (20 pts)

DAY 13 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read & highlight pages 202-208
2   Answer questions "For Review" 1-4 on page 208.  Gmail to Mr. Bauer (20 pts)

DAY 14 SCHEDULE:
1.  Who do you think wanted Jesus executed the most and why?  Answer in PARAGRAPH FORM and gmail to Mr. Bauer at jrbauer09@gmail.com
2.  Study for a quiz tomorrow!

DAY 15 SCHEDULE:
1.  Complete the Chapter 9 Quiz below!  (50 points)  Be careful...the clock begins once you start!
2.  HW:  Make sure you have your "WORLD RELIGIONS" textbook for tomorrow!

DAY 16 SCHEDULE:

YOU NEED TO USE YOUR WORLD RELIGIONS TEXTBOOK!

1.  Read pages 267-272 and complete questions 1-10 on page 292.  This assignment is worth 50 points!!!  Do a great job!  Gmail to Mr. Bauer at

DAY 17 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read and highlight pages 247-266 (Chapter 14 - Islam)
2.  Read the notes I gmailed to you on Islam
3.  Study your work, then take the Islam test!  It's worth 50 points!  Remember that it's on a timer, so make sure you have your notes and book for help!

DAY 18 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read Chapter 3 (HINDUISM) and highlight the key facts!
2.  Know all the key words and terms at the end of the chapter on page 67
3.  Study the caste system.  What is the goal for all Hindus?  How do they reach it?
4.  Take the Hindu quiz below!  50 points!  Don't forget, its on a clock!

DAY 19 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read CHAPTER 8 on Taoism pages 139-151.
2.  Complete questions 1-3 & 7 on page on page 151. (20 points)  Gmail your work to Mr. Bauer at:  jrbauer09@gmail.com

DAY 20 SCHEDULE:
1.  Read pages 278-280 on "MORMONISM"
2.  List 5 basic beliefs of Mormons created by Joseph Smith
3.  Write a one paragraph answer to this question:  Who killed Joseph Smith and why?  Gmail your answer to Mr. Bauer at jrbuer09@gmail.com
