Note: Please remember that all assignments (including labs) are due at the beginning of class on the due date. Any work turned in after class has started will have a 5% deduction from your score (you may be asked to leave the room if we are discussing work that you have not completed). Any work turned in, or tests not taken without prior arrangements, more than one school-day late will receive a 0% score. Online tests, when announced in the class page, will be opened only for the time period specified.

Day 1:

*Orientation (Grading criteria, handouts, class and industry websites) and tool check.

*Safety discussion and demonstration.

*Take safety test (see link below) and pass it with a 100% score.

Day 2:

*Discussion on the 3 components to wash and 3 components to dry fabrics.

*Examine industry fabric laundering guides, laundering requirements for different fabrics, and international laundering symbols (see links below).

*Discuss and demonstrate water quality and hardness and how it relates to laundry equipment and fabric cleaning.

Day 3:

*Lab: Test water hardness in shop with supplied kits. Fill out a report with the supplied work order (See link below).

*Set up washer and dryer equipment (located in outdoor storage cage) following manufacturer's instructions.

*Launder clothes (supplied by students) using detergent (supplied by students) following equipment manufacturers and fabric label instructions.

Day 4:

*Demonstration on customer communication and education regarding laundry equipment usage using the equipment manufacturer's instruction and industry online tools.

*Role play on customer education.

*Set up water softener (see instructor, and use GE Water Softener Manual on this page below).

*Read web pages on water softener operation (see links below).

Day 5:

*Demonstration on water softener operation.

*Lab: Disassemble inspect and reassemble water softener.

*Review for Laundry Theory Test.

Day 6:

*Online test on Laundry Theory (see link below).

*Finish water softener inspection, and disconnect and put away laundry equipment as per instructor’s directions.
