Family Bonds I: Fathers and Daughters Syllabus We will be exploring the complexities of father/daughter relationships in King Lear, Pere Goriot, and To Kill a Mockingbird . We will also study Yeats’ poem “A Prayer for My Daughter.” If time permits, we plan to view the film “Bonjour Tristesse.” Paternal and filial relationships are challenging. Some topics to consider while reading are: obedience and independence, discord and reconciliation, and loyalty and betrayal.
