WEEK 4

This week I have assignments posted (#1-3 in "Tarea/Trabajo" section) that you can complete any time from Monday-Wednesday.   

On Thursday morning I will be printing the activity scores and posting new information for Thursday-Friday. ***Please be sure to check for updates and activities***

  Great job with the cultural work and creating your quia accounts.  We will be using our usernames and passwords to complete activities from now on.  (Don't forget to write down info for password and username somewhere safe!)

  I am so very proud of the work that I am seeing completed.  I know that this has been a big adjustment for you.  I truly miss being in class with you all!!!  Please don't hesitate to e-mail me with any questions or concerns, or sharable stories you might have! (jriegel@mtsinai.k12.ny.us)

Use the rest of the week to make sure you are up-to-date on all distance learning assignments!  You can check the quizzes, games and links below...all should have been completed. Check PowerSchool, any assignment marked "missing" has not been submitted - check the name of the activity and submit for full credit.  Keep in mind some activities were practicing similar vocabulary to other activities. (You may have submitted one and missed the other).

TAREA/TRABAJO (HW/WORK)
1.  Create a quia account -  The sheet for quia account directions is linked below in the "Useful links" section.  You will not be able to submit the quia activity for this week without your username and password!!!. Make sure to write it down in a safe location in case you forget it - I suggest writing it in the front of your Spanish notebook.  PS You can always use the directions to create another account if you forget it.

2.  Read the links below (in "Useful links" section): "Cultura -Carnaval" and "Cultura-La Semana Santa"

3.  Submit: "Avancemos Cultura - Carnaval, La Semana Santa y Los Cascarones" ***Requires that you already completed HW #1 for this week!!!***

BONUS POINTS ACTIVITY - Watch the "Useful link" video for How to Make a Cascarón
-10 pts added to this week's Cultura quia if you create your own Cascarón and send me a picture of it!!!  (Parental guidance/approval required during production :) )

4.  Makes sure that you have submitted/completed all of the work assigned - if you already have...¡Celebra!

Similar to last week, this week there will be assignments posted (#1-2 in "Tarea" section) that you can complete any time from Monday-Wednesday.  You will need to use your notes copied last Thursday/Friday to help complete the activity listed!  Remember, GUSTAR is not a regular verb.  You may even want to re-watch the slideshow on Gustar before completing the quia activity.

Hola clase, ¡Feliz abril!

I hope you are all staying healthy and doing well.  I am proud of how well you all are doing with the activities!  Thank you for the time and effort you are putting in.  I will be looking forward to discussing it all with you back in the classroom!

***There are new notes below on the verb GUSTAR - "Gustar notes #2" and a quia activity that follows along with these notes.  You will be introduced to the Indirect Object Pronouns to discuss what other people like.  We cannot just use regular pronouns like "él"  "ellas" etc or proper names.  Remember that Gustar is not a regular verb so pay close attention to the examples given. The notes and practice activity must be copied into your notebook. Then, complete the short quia "1B En Sus Marcas GUSTAR #2"  Directions are listed in the Tarea/homework section #3.

*If you did not complete last week's assignments they are still linked at the bottom of the page.  See last week's directions to ensure you do the correct activities.  Activity scores will be updated in powerschool throughout the week. 

TAREA (HW)
1.  Listen to the song " Jugo de Naranja" posted in "useful links" section (#3).  Listen again and sing along to a family member!!!  Write a note in your notebook "Tarea" section stating you sang the "jugo de naranja" song to... then have that person sign (Yes, this is an assignment!  :)  ¡Canta bien!

2.  Submit: Quia "1B En Sus Marcas GUSTAR #1" (85% or better = 100%) - due by Thursday 3/26 Remember you can complete as many times as needed by due date.

3.  Copy the GUSTAR NOTES -PART 2 and the practice activity into your notebook. See the "useful links" section which is just under the rest of the quia links at bottom of page.  There are two attachments.  Both will provide the same information.

1-the link "GUSTAR NOTES - PART 2 w/verbal directions (VoiceThread)" offers...verbal directions w/Señora Riegel :)  You would need to download an app called "voice thread" in order to view/listen if you did not already do this last week.  It is a free app.  You also need to open that link in google chrome.  If not already in google chrome, you can click it and copy hyperlink from browser, then paste into google chrome browser.

2-the link "GUSTAR NOTES - PART 2 (Google slides)" is a google slides presentation that will give you the same info and practice without verbal cues. 

4. Submit: Quia "1B En Sus Marcas GUSTAR #2" (85% or better = 100%) - due by Monday 4/6. Remember you can complete as many times as needed by due date.

*RETO - BONUS POINTS ACTIVITY (+10 added to Gustar HW 2)  - Complete the RETO (Challenge activity) posted at the end of the GUSTAR PART 2 notes.

E-mail me a write up of who the conversation was with and what your partners responses were. Ex.  Mrs. Riegel & Mr. Riegel  1. ¿Qué te gusta hacer? - Le gusta descansar (He likes to rest :)

*Or be creative and e-mail me a video dialogue that you have created with the questions/answers

1.  Please go to the "Java Games" link below for "L11/16 Las frutas y las verduras"  Click on the "list of terms" section or the "flashcards" game.  Use the vocabulary to identify the "las legumbres/las verduras/los vegetales" and "las frutas" sections of our vocabulary packet. I will be linking a quizlet for the "Frutas & Verduras" as well. Notice and update packet with changes needed for the vegetables term #6 el champiñón and #11 la coliflor.
*Quizlet will allow you to listen/hear the pronunciation of the vocabulary & give you extra practice if desired.  Quizlet is not a graded activity so again it will just be used as a pronunciation reference for you while we are "distance learning"

2.  Choose 10 vegetables to write out neatly in your notebook/loose-leaf with the format: Spanish-English-Spanish  (this will be checked upon return to school)

3.  Choose 10 fruits to write out neatly in your notebook/loose-leaf with the format: Spanish-English-Spanish  (this will be checked upon return to school)   Also...Listen to the fruit song below listed with "useful links"  ¡Canta! :) 

4.  Submit: Quia "1B En Sus Marcas Frutas y Verduras" (85% or better = 100%) - due by Thursday 3/26 @ 8am

*As time goes on I will be linking vocabulary lists and notes for you.  Please make sure you update the vocabulary packet with the new vocab definitions.  Grammar notes will be copied into your notebook.  (If you do not have your packet you can print each list from the "Java Game" and staple together.  Notes can be copied onto loose-leaf and kept together as well.)

TAREA (HW)
1.  Submit the quia activity: "1B En Sus Marcas - Drinks, Meats & Culture #2" linked towards bottom of page. 

-The vocab list for meats and drinks is also listed down below as a "java game" in case you do not have your list or want to practice with vocab games :)

*I saw that many have completed the above review activity on Meats and Drinks - Great job guys!!!  If you did not yet complete, please make sure to get this done so that you don't fall behind

2.  Please go to the "Java Games" link below for "L11/16 vocabulario el pescado/los mariscos y cultura"  Click on the "list of terms" section or the "flashcards" game.  Use the vocabulary to identify the "Pescado/Mariscos" section of our vocabulary packet.  Your "Cultura" section should already be defined on your packet. I will be linking a quizlet for the "Pescado/Mariscos & Cultura" as well. *Quizlet will allow you to listen/hear the pronunciation of the vocabulary & give you extra practice if desired.  Quizlet is not a graded activity so again it will just be used as a pronunciation reference for you while we are "distance learning" :)
