Congratulations for learning so much and doing so well on your tests! So far, the test average is an 88! Best ever so far this year!
Students need to keep using the flashcard games as well as the other games to practice for the vocabulary and other quizzes. I have shared with them that SOMETIMES a "test question" secretly sneaks its way into the games (Rags to Riches, Challenge Board, Battleship)- and that it may be advantageous in MORE ways than just solidifying understanding and practice reading and understanding questions.
We've had a fun time learning about plate tectonics- with the "Snack Tectonics" activity and the "Pop- 3 ways" activity. Remember to hug and thank your parents again for helping to send in the icing, fruit roll-ups and graham crackers for out learning activity- I really appreciate all of your support.
In the next few weeks, I will be looking for various colored duct tape (red, orange, blue, white, silver, grey, yellow, black, green, PINK, purple, and teal) for projects. If you happen to be at the store and can send any of these colors- we really appreciate it!
Does anyone have a good place to buy diatomaceous earth? I want to have students modeling the formation of river systems using it because of the wonderful drainage properties that it has.
Also- Robbie's parents have graciously donated all the sand we need to learn about eruption styles of different volcanoes.
Parents- Would you like to come participate with us sometime? I KNOW that I will need you in December when students put together a 12-layer cake... but in the meantime, if you would like to help out- please send me an email at geotraveler2003@yahoo.com. Put "Parent Volunteer" in the subject line so I can easily find it on a search.
I am planning another Saturday outing- this time a bit farther away- Cartersville- to go to the Tellus Museum (everything Earth science there!) Let me know if you are interested- bring siblings, friends- make it a great family day!

The first test was very successful, with an average score in the mid 80's! As is becoming my custom, I am offering a "1st test redemption" to all students, regardless of score. This is due no later than September 12th.
Here are the particulars:
1. Write out each question with the following:
a. What answer you originally chose
b. Why you thought that was the best choice
c. What you NOW know to be the best choice
d. Quote a reference (book, notes, lecture) to support your new kge
2. Points will be added for each question that is in 100 compliance with the format above.
3. Each question that is redeemed will carry the value of the difference between the student's original score and a perfect score.
Any student who chooses may use their Hull Middle School test retake opportunity on this test if the above will not help them gain enough points.
To qualify for any test retake in my class, students must do "Step one" of the above before retesting. Students will have 7 days to complete "Step one" and schedule the retake.
