The modern world began with conflicting political and economic ideologies after World War II that resulted in the Cold War. The Cold War between the United States and the former Soviet Union overlapped with an era of decolonization and national liberation.

This radioactive warning symbol was doodled at the University of California radiation lab in Berkeley sometime in 1946. Why did the Berkeley people choose this symbol? One theory is that this symbol was used at a naval base dry dock near Berkeley to warn of spinning propellers.

1. Essay - Rank the Political, Social, Economic, Social, and Technological causes of the Cold War from least important to most important. In your essay describe:
Paragraph 1 - Define political (containment), social (fear) and economic (Globalization) as causes for the Cold War. State which cause had the greatest impact on the Cold War. Paragraph 1 should be 5 sentences long.
Paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 - Give example of the political, Economic, social, and technological causes. For example, when you are writing about social or fear as a cause of the Cold War, explain why people were afraid of the spread of communism and write about the US and USSR possessing the atomic bomb. Each paragraph should be 5 senences long.
Paragraph 5 - Justify your choice (political, Economic, social, and technological) for having the greatest impact on the Cold War. For example, you could choose political (containment) and explain how quickly communism spread. Don't forget to use at least one internet source in Paragraph 5. Cite your sources.
