LPS will be implementing a new 6th-grade Science Curriculum this year. Objectives are
based on Preliminary 2017 Nebraska College, Career, and Civic Ready Science Standards and 2016-2017 pilot at Culler and Schoo Middle Schools. They are
organized around disciplinary core ideas (explanatory ideas) from A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas (2012)
The central role of students will be to engage in scientific practices and use crosscutting concepts to explain phenomena.
There are four Science Units in 6th grade. Please see the links below to access each quarter's website.
Unit 1 - Weather & Climate
Unit 2 - Living Organisms
Unit 3 - Cells & Heredity
Unit 4 - Energy
Parents - please let me know if you have any expertise in any of these areas. I'd love to use you as a resource!
