Changing Decimals To Fractions
Follow the steps:
1. Name the place value of the last digit.
2. Write that place value as the denominator(bottom
number).
3. Write everything to the right of the decimal point as
the numerator (top number).
4. Write everything to the left of the decimal point as a
whole number.
5. Reduce the fraction.
Example:
1.98 === the 8 is in the hundredths place
/100 === the bottom number will be 100
98/100 === the top number will be 98
1 98/100 === the 1 goes on the outside
1 49/50 === reduce
Example:
0.234 === the 4 is in the thousandths place
/1000 === the bottom number will be 1000
234/1000 === the top number will be 234
234/1000 === the 0 doesn't have to be written
117/500 === reduced
