It is my duty to share my experiences and knowledge with my students so that they too can find the common bonds that allow us to not only tolerate the differences among cultures, but to also accept them.

Mission Statement: As a secondary teacher, my career allows me to influence the lives of many young people. I must give my students every key available to me so that they may unlock the doors of any future that they may choose. I have discovered that part of my job as a foreign language teacher is not only to teach the grammar of the language itself, but also to teach the importance of acceptance and tolerance of other cultural practices, beliefs and ideas. In order to communicate this idea effectively, I myself must experience other cultures and their people; and hopefully my students will be able to view and experience the world through my ventures. In return, their exposure to new ideas and cultural practices will help them to understand and accept the differences among societies as well as see their many similarities. Teaching is a career for me, not just a job. Every day I must teach the subject matter of the class and many life lessons. I do this through the knowledge that I gain from my personal experiences, information that I gather and advice that I receive. Having been given the opportunity to travel to seven different countries and to Puerto Rico has allowed me the opportunity to add vast volumes to my encyclopedia of information from which to draw upon and to expand upon new ideas. Through these experiences, I have begun to appreciate the differences between the traditions and practices of various cultures, while at the same time have been allowed to explore the common bonds which link us together as the human race. It is my duty to share my experiences and knowledge with my students so that they too can find the common bonds that allow us to not only tolerate the differences among cultures, but to also accept them.
