Monday- Bellringer # 3: People often say that our generation, as a whole, feels like they are entitled, and that they don't have a good work ethic. What do you think?
Read excerpt from "A White House Diary" and discuss Mrs. Johnson's word choice and attitude. How does she feel? How are we suppose to feel?
Write about a tragic or stressful situation that occurred in your life in which you stayed calm (five sentence minimum). Listen to each of your peers read about their life event and then write a sentence reaction to each one.
Tuesday- Bellringer #4: How often do you daydream? What do you daydream about?
Read "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and discuss it with classmates. What do you think about Walter Mitty? What do other people think about him?
Complete the character exercise on page 59 and complete the assignment on page 67.

Friday- Bellringer #6: Do you have any friends or relatives that other people think are strange but you think are amazing?
Read "Uncle Marcos" and complete the workbook pages 69-71. How has knowing Uncle Marcos changed Clara's life?

Monday- Bellringer #7: Create your own dance move and describe it in five sentences. Hand your journal to another student and ask them to learn your dance move.
Today we will be reviewing for our Unit 1 Test. Students need to me familiar with the differences between fiction and nonfiction, the events in the stories we read, and the different purposes of fiction and nonfiction.
Tuesday- Bellringer #8: Did you notice anything strange on your way to school today?
