NOTE: The assignments below are current as of today's date. Any assignments posted for other dates are tentative, based on the amount of material covered in class. Assignments will be updated and adjusted by 3:30 each day. The homework assignment is the assignment given in class each day.

Spanish III Pre-IB, Periods A, C, and D  Aug. 15: Please give your parents handouts number 1 - 5 for them to read with you. When finished, please put the handouts in the front pocket of your Spanish class folder (folder with inside pockets and brads in the center for paper...remember you will need two of these.) For tomorrow study the -ar verbs in the first column on p. 27. For Thursday bring in a printout on Spanish tapas. This may be general information or a specific recipe that you think sounds good. Remember that on Thursday you also need to give me the promise agreement that you and your parents have signed as well as the student information sheet. By Tuesday Sept. 9 you must have a good Spanish/English dictionary.
Aug. 16: See above. Study the regular -ar,-er, and -ir verbs on p. 27. Go over the questions on the restaurant handout out loud.
Aug. 17: Review all of page 27, the questions that are on the handout on the restaurant, and study the verb conjugations on p. 4.
Bring your readers to class tomorrow.
Aug. 18: Remember next week there will be a quiz on p. 27 and p. 4 and a situational execise on the restaurant questions and answers. Prepare well! Periods A and D, do the verb sheet. Continuation of reader on Monday.
NEXT WEEK: Continuation of work with p. 4, p.27 with quiz on Wednesday, oral grade on situational exercises based onEl restauante questions and answers on Friday. We will read the story from the reader and there will be cultural notes on Spain.
Aug. 21: Study for the quiz on Wednesday (p. 27 and p. 4). Study the 10 questions on the restaurant for the oral evaluation on Friday.
Aug. 22: 50 point quiz tomorrow on p. 27 and p. 4 as per the format discussed in class.
Aug.23: Study the restaurant questions and the new conversational expressions from today. Your 50 point presentations will be on Friday, with practice groups in class tomorrow.
Aug. 24: 50 point presentations on "Mi restaurante favorito" tomorrow in class.
Aug. 25: Mapa del cuento. Use pencil. Fill in the organizer with information from the story from our reader. The rectangles at the bottom: The first represents the beginning of the story, the second represents the middle, and the last represents the end. In each rectangle, copy one sentence from the reader that you feel reflects the actions that take place at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
FOR THE WEEK OF AUG. 28th: Dictionary quiz on Tuesday. Continuation of work with the reader and begin Unidad 1, Etapa 1.
Aug. 28: Dictionary quiz tomorrow. Be sure "Mapa del cuento" is complete (see above). For tonight, from the reader, do the first four sets of exercises on p. 5 and 6. Remember that you have to write out the full sentences or in the case of the last exercise, the full questions, in order to receive credit. Study the vocab. words from the reader.
Aug. 29: Complete the irregular verb chart given out in class today.
Aug. 30: Know all vocab. from the left hand column of p. 51. Possible quiz tomorrow/test next week on these words/oral practice tomorrow in class.
Aug. 31: Vocab quiz left hand column of p. 51 (Spanish to English); workbook p. 2, 3, 13, and the top of p. 14.
Sept. 1: Know the first five questions and corresponding answers on the Sports sheet. Be sure you can ask the question and give a correct answer. Continue to study p. 51, as there will be a unit test which will include spelling the week after next.
WEEK OF SEPT. 5: Continuation of sports sheet and work with p. 51. Begin unit on Crime, law enforcement and nationalities for 50 point oral presentations.
Sept. 5: Know sentences (questions and answers) from "Mi deporte favorito" for tomorrow. We will check workbook exercises from 8/31, so be sure those are done.
Sept. 6 - 7: Bring materials for work on posters and review the new vocab from handout number 8. Also go over all of the questions and answers on sports.
Sept. 8: Wanted poster projects are due on Monday. Refer to the handout for specific details.
Sept. 11: Study the vocab from p. 51 (spelling) and the new words from the crime unit. Vocab. test later this week. Continuation of crime presentations tomorrow in class.
Sept. 12 - 13: 100 point test on Thursay. Know how to spell all of the words in the left hand column of p. 51, and know the right hand column from Spanish to English. You also need to know the words on the handout on crime and law enforcement from Spanish to English. Remember to bring in your "little books" to qualify for prizes . (See end of this page for specifics!)
Sept. 14: Clip art, sketches, magazine cut-outs on p. 51 and crime and law enforcement are due on Monday. 25 point assignment, minimum 15 sketches each page. Do not label your pictures.
(Remember the fund-raiser....6 points tomorrow gets you a flying animal! :-)
Sept. 15: Clip art etc. See above for details. Also know the first seven questions and answers on the sports unit for Monday. Oral test (groups) on Thursday on the sports unit.
Sept. 18: Study p. 12. Be able to conjugate an -ar, -er, and/or -ir verb in preterite tomorrow. Also study questions 1 - 10 on the sports handout. Oral group presentation (50 point test) on sports unit on Thursday, prep time in class on Wednesday. Remember the fund-raiser!
Sept. 19: A Period, cultural food unit tomorrow! :-) Take everything to the gym lobby before A period, then report to A period as usual for prayers, announcements and attendance.
All classes: Study p. 14. 50 point oral test (skits, on sports unit) has been moved to Friday. Study the sheet on sports. The fund-raiser ends tomorrow. Bring your order forms to class.
Sept. 20: Please bring all order forms to class tomorrow. Also review p.16; Workbook, do p. 6 activites 11 y 12. Study the English versions of the sports questions. Be able to give the quetions and answers in Spanish tomorrow. Oral test using the questions and answeres in groups on Friday.
Sept. 21: Presentaciones orales manana. Recordad que no se puede usar ningunos apuntes y que hay que usar el vocabulario de la fotocopia sobre "Mi deporte favorito". Hay que usar expresiones conversacionales, como por ejemplo "Que barbaridad", "Que guay", etc. y tambien hay que saludar y despedirse de forma correcta.
Se calificara de la forma siguiente: (Basic rubrics, #/50, test grade:) 25: evidence of preparation, accuracy, flow; 10 group work; 5 props; 5 conversational exchanges; 5 greeting and farewell.
Remember, no notes are allowed, but you will have visual cues as shown in class today.
Sept. 22:  Clip art from p. 73.  Same set-up as before...use white paper, minimum 15 pictures NOT labeled. (It is strongly suggested that you have more than 15 pictures.) Write p. 73 at the top, and put your name in the upper right hand corner.
FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 25TH:  Wrap up of oral presentations on sports.  Work with new vocab. on clothing, materials and leisure time (see p. 73 vocab.)  Continuation of Preterite tense (stem-changing preterite and leer, oir, creer, and similar verbs.)  Test this week on regular preterite, -car, -gar, -zar, stem-changing and leer etc.)  Work with the reader.
Sept. 25:  All classes:  Study text p. 73. 
Period A:  p. 20 text, write the verbs that correspond to the letter;  workbook, p. 7, actividad 14, and p. 8, actividad 15.
Period C:  p. 20, copy the letter and fill in the blanks with the correct form of the stem-changing preterite tense verbs.  Refer to the information on p. 20 and to today's class notes.
Period D:  Quiz on p. 73, left and center columns only.  Know the words from Spanish to English.
Test on Friday on all preterite done thus far.
Sept. 26:  All classes:  Test on Friday on p. 12, 16 and 20 plus the notes on leer, oir, caer and creer.  Homework for Wed:
Period A:  Study for Friday's test.
Period C:  Do workbook p. 7, activity 14 and p. 8, activity 15.
Period D:  Study for Friday's test.
Sept. 27:  Study for Friday's test.  Be sure to go over today's practice test.  D Period, take your food unit things to the gym lobby in the morning.
Sept. 28:  Test tomorrow on regular preterite, p. 12; -car,-gar,-zar preterite, p. 16; stem-changing preterite, p. 20, and leer, oir, creer and caer in preterite (see your class notes.)  Remember to bring in your poster board for next week's project on fashion.

Oct. 17:  From today's video on Spanish foods, you should have turned in the worksheet.  No homework tonight.
Oct. 18: From the reader, Read p. 19-23. Write the answers in complete sentences to the first four sets of exercises, p. 23 - top of 25.
Oct. 23: For tomorrow, do NOT do p. 25, activity 19. However, you will need to study p. 24 then from the workbook, do p. 9 activity 18 and p. 10 activity 19. Book check tomorrow (hay que tener el libro de texto, el libro de ejercicios, el libro de lectura y el diccionario en clase manana). For Friday, 25 point take-home quiz grade: have your three clip art pages in a folder or binder ready to submit (para el viernes hay que darme los dibujos o clip art de las paginas p. 51, p. 73 y la fotocopia sobre el crimen...se cuenta como una prueba de 25 puntos. Oct. 27: Clip art quiz submission. Have new folders with clip art from p. 51 hole-punched and already in brads in folder. I will want to see all three of your folders on Monday: Class folder, cultural folder and the new folder you have for the clip art.
Study the words from today's handout on the house.
Oct. 30: Quiz on Thursday: La casa handout (English to Spanish) and p. 97, "tasks" and "objects" sections only (Spanish to English).
Those of you who owe me clip art, have it ready for tomorrow. New clip art from p. 97 will be due on Friday of this week. Have a minimum of 15 words. Be sure your Entrevistas sheet is filled in completely with your personal information.
Oct. 31: Quiz on Thursday (see above). For tonight, do a 20 word vocab sheet, 8 columns, Spanish-English-Spanish-English , four on the front and and four on the back from the words of your choice from the handout on the house and/or p. 97. Clip art due on Monday, total of 20 pictures, no words, from the handout on the house and p. 97.
Nov. 1: Quiz tomorrow, clip art due on Monday (see Oct. 30 and 31 for details).
Nov. 2: Period A: Write in Spanish 10 questions about the story "El matrimonio perfecto".
Periods C and D: p. 25, translate the 10 sentences under the title "composicion".
Nov. 3: Clip art (20 words, p. 97 and/or La casa handout) due on Monday. It should be in your folder. Study p. 24.
Nov. 6: Be able to fill in the chart based on today's notes on irregular preterite (yo forms and defintions in preterite.)
Nov. 7: Fill in exercises A and C on the single page worksheet on preterite. Study all irregular preterite tense verbs from p. 24 and from the top of the worksheet.
Nov. 8 and 9: 3 page verb packet. Those of you who are going on the Nov. 20th field trip, please remember to bring your menu selection and payment for Acapulo.

Period D: food unit tomorrow. Take everything to the gym lobby kitchen in the morning. All classes review the irregular verbs from the "other irregular verbs" handout.
Nov. 14 and 15: Dictionary quiz in all classes on Thursday. Clip art/sketches/magazine cutouts due on Friday. 20 pictures total from p. 123 and 145. You may do additional pictures and even use two separate sheets of paper if you want a more extensive group of pictures for testing purposes, but you only have to have one sheet of paper with 20 visuals. Remember NOT to label any of the pictures and to have all clip art etc. hole-punched and put in the brads of your folder.
FOR TOMORROW: Refer to p. 123 for the following three exercises...
Workbook p. 43 Activity 5: Fill in using the word bank. Do not conjugate the verbs. Activity 6: Translate numbers 1 – 4 to English. (Do not follow the directions given in the workbook.)
Next, p. 44 Activity 7: “You and your friends have decided that you want to participate in community activities. You have gotten together to decide who is going to participate in each activity. Write two sentences in Spanish to explain who is going to do each activity.” For example for number 1 you could write (in Spanish) “My friends plant trees.” and “They work in the park.” Refer to p. 145 for the following exercises. All of these are fill-ins. Then, p. 51 Activity 5 and Activity 6; p. 52 Activity 7 (Fill in only the six words at the top. Do not write the six
sentences at the bottom.) Attention all absent students: There was a worksheet on preterite tense done today as classwork. You will be given that sheet in class tomorrow.
D Period: Fund-raiser drawings and prizes tomorrow in class! :-)
Nov. 16: Clip art due tomorrow (see above for details.) Be sure to have the work from yesterday ready to check (See Nov. 14th and 15th.)
Nov. 17 - 20: Review pages 123 - 145 orally so that you are able to use the words in conversation. Also using any form of preterite ( p. 4, 12, 16 and/or 24) write five sentences telling what you did last Thanksgiving. One of your statements should not be true. Put a star next to the false statement.
Nov. 21: Review any section of vocab. that you feel needs your attention. Go over all preterite tense endings.

SECOND SEMESTER

Spanish III Pre-IB, Periods A, C, and D  Jan 4: Be sure that the handout from today is completed by the beginning of class tomorrow. Review the class notes on conjugations. Feliz 2007 a todos! :-)
Jan. 5: Do a 20 word, 8 column vocab sheet from the handout or do 20 sketches (or clip art, magazine cut-outs etc.) and label them. (You may do both assignments for an extra grade if you want to.)
Jan. 9: Choose any five animals and write a description of them in
Spanish. These can be famous animals if you chose. Write the answer to your description in parenthesis.) Quiz on animals on Friday.
Jan. 10, 11. Quiz on Friday on the animal unit. Be sure to know how to spell the names of the animals (everything from the handout) and know the information from the class notes.
Jan. 12: Refer to your notes on regular and irregular future tense verbs. On notebook paper you will conjugate 10 verbs in future. On the front, conjugate any 5 regular verbs (your choice of verbs), and on the back, conjugate any 5 irregular verbs (choose from the list given in your class notes.) The first verb on each page must have the 10 subject pronouns; for the other four verbs, just the conjugation is suffient.
WEEK OF JANUARY 16: Continuation of future tense, countries and capitals of South America, and new vocabulary on camping and weather. Nationalities of the South American countries. Rubrics for oral presentation on animals and work on those projects.

Jan. 16: Quiz tomorrow on countries and capitals. Begin organizing for project on pet; sentences due to me by Friday for 25 points and corrections.
Jan. 17 - 18: Work on sentences for project on your pet. Review p. 78 - 79 in your reader.
Jan. 19: Reader. Read "Salir sin nada" (p. 79 - 82) and do the first four sets of exercises on p. 82 - 83 (answers must be in complete sentences in order to receive credit.) Oral presentations due on Wednesday.
Jan. 22: Work on oral presentations due Wednesday.
Jan. 23: Presentations tomorrow. Refer to rubrics and prepare well.
Also, if you were absent on Jan. 22, be sure to get the notes on grammar points that will be double points off for the rest of the year.
Jan. 24: Be sure games one and two are filled in on your game sheet.
Jan. 25: 100 point test on future tense on Monday. Fill out exercise C on the worksheet that was given out in class today.
Jan 26: Test on Future tense on Monday. Work with temas 1 and 3 on Tuesday.
Jan. 29; Complete outlines for Temas 1 and 3 only.
Jan. 30 - 31: Test on the vocab. from p. 169 and notes on weather expressions on Thursday. There will be an optional section on future tense that will count up to 10 points on the previous test score.
Feb. 1: A period: Our food unit has been changed from tomorrow to Monday! From the reader, review the cultural notes on Puerto Rico and the vocabulary helps. Then reread what we translated in class and on paper translate the remainder of the story to English. Periods A and C begin on p. 32 with the line "Diego, apenas has comido." Period D, begin with the line "Los tres se sentaron..."
Feb. 2: From p. 195 do a 20 word vocab sheet (8 columns, 4 on the front, 4 on the back, Spanish, English, Spanish, English)OR do sketches/clip art etc. of 20 or the words and label them in Spanish.
Feb. 5: D period food unit tomorrow. Other classes be sure to bring your workbooks to class tomorrow. Study p. l95.
Feb. 6: Note: assignments are different for each class today due to cultural food unit days.
A Period: Write 10 sentences in conditional tense, telling me what you would do if it were summer right now. Study p. 195.
C Period: Study p. 195.
D Period: If you haven't turned them in already, be sure that your vocab sheets or clip art/sketches on words from p. 195 are ready to turn in tomorrow. Study p. 195. (See Feb. 2nd) Thanks so much for all students who brought in items for today's food unit
Feb. 7: C period, food unit tomorrow.
All classes, quiz on Friday on p. 195 and the conditional tense.
Begin studying for Monday's quiz on countries and captitals of Central America and the Carribean.
Feb. 8: Quiz tomorrow on p. 195 and 115. See previous dates for details.
Feb. 9: Quiz countries and caps of la America Central y el Caribe. Know spellings. Remember that you must write out "Republica Dominicana"... the abbreviation is not accepted. Note also that there should be an accent on the "u" of republica (I can't make accents on Homework Hero.)
Feb. 12-13: Study the notes on the tu affirmative commands and the vocab. on p. 217. Optional assignment: 20 word vocab sheet with the words on p. 217 and/or 20 labeled clip art pictures.
Feb. 14: Have temas 1-4 filled out on your outline sheet.
Feb. 15: Study p. 217 in the text and do p. 75 in the workbook.
Feb. 16: Translate p. 198 - 199. Test next Friday on p. 217 (the first 2 columns) and the tu command forms (see class notes) as well as new vocabulary on religion.
Feb. 20: Study the new handout on religion. Test on Friday on p. 217, "la religion" and the tu command forms. Next Friday, March 2nd, there will be an oral test on the first four temas. Rubrics will be given.
Feb. 21: For tomorrow, 2 full sized printouts or sketches on the religion sheet, for example one picture of a rosary and one picture of a nun. Do not label the pictures. Optional assignment, 20 word vocab. sheet on religion handout, due tomorrow. On Friday of this week, 100 point test on p. 217 (1st two columns), the religion handout, and the tu commands. Next Friday, oral evaluation on the first four conversational topics (temas).
Feb. 22: Test tomorrow on p. 217 (all of the first column, and most of the second column...down through and including "se lo agradezco"; the handout on relion; and the tu commands (study notes and practice worksheet.) Know all vocabulary, Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
Feb. 23: Finish translating your story from the reader. Last day for makeup tests is Friday March 2nd. Remember our fund-raiser... the sale ends on Wednesday, Feb. 28th.
Feb. 26: Review p. 243, government vocab. Continue organizing presentations of stories for Thursday and yourconversational topics for Friday. Fund-raiser ends Wednesday!
Feb. 27: Bring all fund-raiser order forms and payment to class tomorrow. Remember all makeup tests and quizzes must be taken at the latest by this coming Friday, March 2nd. Begin preparing now for the 50 point story presentation on Thursday and the 50 point full class conversation on temas 1 - 4 on Friday. Look over vocab. on p. 243 and practice the words using www.classzone.com.
Feb. 28: See above. Presentations due tomorrow on the reader: 10 points props/costumes; 15 points organization; 25 points reading (linking and pronunciation) and visual effects. OPTIONAL ASSIGNMENT
is to do a 20 word, 8 column vocab sheet or 20 clip art pictures from p. 241.
Mar. 1: Guided conversation evaluation (50 points, classwork grade) on the first four temas. You will be allowed to use your outlines for the first 15 minutes. Extra points will be given for use of advanced level grammar and vocabulary.
March 2: Any student who was not in class on Thursday or Friday should be prepared to make up the evaluations on Monday. If you missed Thurdays' presentations from the reader, you will be asked to read parts of the story your group prepared. If you missed Friday's temas evaluation, be able to talk on all topics for 2 minutes. I will choose one and ask you to speak to that topic.
Everyone should study p. 241.
Mar. 5: Choose 5 words from p. 241 and describe them so that the class will be able to guess what the word is. Quiz on p. 241 on Thursday.
Mar. 6 - 7: Study for Thursday's quiz on p. 241, selected words only. Temas 5 - 8 due on Tuesday.
Mar. 8: Temas 5 - 8 for Tuesday. 1 1/2 minute talk on one of the temas (your choice)on Wednesday...no notes or pictures.
