Classroom/Homework Assignment: If you need an assignment, please email me at mfrancisco@wcs.k12.va.us Overview: This course is a study of World History from the “Age of Discovery” to the present. The curriculum for this class has been aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. The primary content of this course will be taken from the World History Standards of Learning Curriculum Framework provided by the Virginia Dept. of Education. Student resources will include the provided textbook, handouts, and notes. Grading: Your grade for each nine weeks will be based on: • Classroom and Homework assignments = 25% • Notebook Checks/Class Participation = 25% • Quizzes/Tests = 50% Materials needed: Unless otherwise advised, each day you need to bring the following items to class: • Your textbook. • A three-ring binder or notebook dedicated to World History II. • A pen or pencil. • A set of colored pencils Major content areas to be covered during the first nine weeks: Age of Discovery: • Impact of Global Trade • Commercial Revolution • Science, Politics, and Religion in the 16th Century Politics in the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Century: • Scientific Revolution • Age of Absolutism • Enlightenment • American and French Revolution • The Civil War and Reconstruction Classroom Rules and Expectations: 1. Treat everyone and everything in the classroom with RESPECT. 2. Be in the classroom and ready to work when the bell rings. 3. No Food or Drink; although water is acceptable. 4. All rules and policies of AHS will be strictly enforced.
